Strange place! We arrived and greeted by people who barely spoke English, we asked to check in but not sure they understood, as thy did not check us in. It felt awkward and we weren't introduced to a dog that was trotting around. Luckily no one was allergic. Warren appeared shortly after, and we were given our room. Breakfast was terrible, we weren't asked what we would like or how we wanted our eggs cooking or anything it was all very random, people got given different things, and the egg whites were yellow with grease, not everyone's breakfasts were hot. The second morning we did not eat the breakfast at all because the 1st was so bad. Not all rooms have their own bathroom. The showers ran hot and cold with very low pressure. Wallpaper very tatty where people have scuffed it and spilled drinks. Broken fire door on top landing which, being the hotel health and safety auditor for a travel company, made me uncomfortable. The rooms have to be unlocked with a key from the inside to exit, which if there was a fire is not good! The member of staff that stayed though the evening and night spoke very little English, despite him trying his best it was hard to communicate. There were other little details too which made the group feel uneasy. Not the amazing boutique hotel it makes out.. However i'd like to be fair by saying the good bits were the wood burner in the lounge, the nice outdoor space at the back and the bathrooms and beds were clean. There was also a blind over the skylight so we weren't woken up by the light early in the morning.
