clean, very good location food was ok, the meal deal at £22 for 3 course meal inclding drink and breakfast was good value. Car park opposite NCP is a right rip off £20 a night and you only get 10% not the advertised 30% discount

Have just returned from one nights stay with my husband and son. Was very easy to find. Check in very swift. I have stayed here previously but I caught the train so hadnt realised over night parking was£19:40 and you only get 10% off :(( O.k gonna nit pick now.... There was three of us my son is 13, and only 2 large towels, 2 mugs and glasses in the room. The heater wasn't working. There wasn't any shower gel in the dispenser. The beds are extremely hard. At breakfast there seemed to be two ladies working the floor. We went down at 9:50am breakfast ended at 10:30am. There wasn't enough plates, tomatoes, sausages. Bacon. Etc... The cups that I picked up were dirty. There wasn't much juice in the dispenser which ran out. People seemed to be queuing for a while waiting for stuff even though breakfast was taisty it's not acceptable. The best thing about this hotel is the location.

I decided to go to Liverpool as a bit of a last minute trip away with my best mate and we booked the Premier Inn for a 3 night long weekend stay (good value at about £225 in total). We booked Premier Inn mainly due to the balance of price, decent value, late availability and reputation for reasonable quality.
The hotel is easy to find and has a large car park next door. Only thing to say here is beware of the parking costs! These will easily add around £18 per night to your stay, and even with the small discount you get from the hotel, this made our total stay closer to £280.
The hotel is pretty much what you would expect from a Premier Inn; service pretty average, clean and comfortable. The location is also really good as you’re in the heart of the city (the Cavern pub/club is just down the road which is always worth a visit for the live music and nostalgia!)
Service is always top of my list of things that can turn a pretty average experience in a value-hotel such as a Premier Inn into an amazing one, especially as it doesn’t cost anything… (ok, we could argue that point out, but you know what I mean!) However, I was a little disappointed on this occasion.
Firstly we found that they had allocated our room to someone else when we turned up. I thought, ok - these things happen and the desk attendant was (somewhat) apologetic (and blamed someone else...) This also appeared to lead to our twin room being allocated as a family room, meaning one of us had a large comfy double bed, and the other a small (although still reasonably comfy) single bed, that looked like it could convert to a sofa if needed. We did question if we could have a proper twin room as requested and also as implied in pictures when booking with two equal sized beds, but were (surprisingly) advised that this was the normal layout for a twin room? Something to be aware of if you don’t want to enter a fight for the biggest bed...!
In addition on the service front, when having breakfast on 2 of the 3 days we stayed, the breakfast staff were pretty unprofessional – on both these days they made us wait for about a minute, standing right next to them without acknowledgement waiting to be seated as they finished their gossip with one another. This continued throughout the meal and made for a bit of an uncomfortable atmosphere. Come on guys – this is pretty unforgivable, even for a value-hotel.
On the positive side though, the breakfast (an extra £8 per person per day) was pretty good value (the sausages in Premier Inns have become somewhat of a surprisingly tasty guilty pleasure of mine) and the hotel was clean, comfortable and good value for the price we paid! Only thing to be aware of is that it seemed a hot spot for hen and stag dos – but we had 3 nights of good and undisturbed sleep.
I’d definitely consider coming back to this hotel due to the value perspective if visiting Liverpool again – I find that Premier Inn never fails to be toward the top end of value chain hotels. However, if you are booking well in advance (which we weren’t on this occasion) I’d recommend having a little look around at independent hotels and apartments as you may find a more unique or better value experience.

Room Tip: Just be aware that twin rooms (apparently as standard) comprise of a large double bed, and a small s...
