“Excellent value for money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

I stayed at the premier inn for three nights, booking in advance for a very affordable price. Usually I prefer the B & B, but I must admit that I found myself very well. Comfortable bed and excellent mattress for a budget hotel!

Room, breakfast and absolutely great!! Right in the city centre but quiet. Service from staff was excellent, they were helpful, professional and kind. Great value. Would highly recommend Liverpool Moorfields

comfortable enough room though the key card didn't work to start with, cant be helped I suppose.
not much in the way of toiletries...
seagulls provided a ridiculously early wake up call, time of year I suppose...
paid extra to have breakfast included, complete waste of money. Breakfast was pretty appalling.

Room Tip: initial wifi period of an hour (i think?) is free...

Now I confess, I may be somewhat biased when it comes to Liverpool - simply because I first visited earlier this year and was completely blown away by the City and it's people.
Anyway, this is a review of the Premier Inn, Moorfields so I will try to be as objective as I can.

Firstly it's location cannot be bettered. It's a five minute walk to the Cavern Quarter and the Cavern Club itself. You just turn left out of the Hotel entrance walk to the junction of Vernon Street with Dale Street. Turn right on Dale Street past the very handy Tesco Express with it's ATM. Cross over at the first pedestrian crossing at the Junction with Stanley Street. Turn left on Stanley Street and walk down crossing over Victoria Street and stay on Stanley Street where you will find Mathew Street and the Cavern Quarter on the right hand side.
The main shopping precinct area (Whitechapel and Paradise Street) and Liverpool One shopping centre is less than a minutes walk further on from Mathew Street.
There is a huge choice of restaurants with so many different cuisines available - again all within a five minute walk of the Hotel. There are also a couple of Cafes nearby for a cheaper breakfast option. The nearest is the City Cafe on Stanley Street which you pass on the way to the Cavern Quarter. Only slightly further is Shiraz in North St John Street (keep walking on Dale Street past Stanley Street and the third road on the left after Stanley Street is North St John Street. Shiraz do a huge full English for £4.90 and that includes a tea or coffee. Now whilst that does seem cheaper than the P.I. at £8.75 - if you have two or three teas or coffees and a few fresh fruit juices on top of your full English buffet then the P.I. offer is actually extremely good value. Especially for a bacon monster like me. The quality of the sausages and bacon at P.I. is much better too. Now whilst fried eggs left to congeal under a heat lamp are not the best, you can order freshly cooked poached eggs from the waitress who seats you.

Our room, 303, on the third floor was brilliant. It has been recently refurbished (as have all the rooms apparently - the reception is the only area still to be done) Spotless like-new en-suite bathroom with complimentary shower gel/shampoo and liquid soap. Not the most powerful of showers but it was perfectly adequate. The bathroom extractor fan was noisy but I suppose that offers an incentive to ensure you turn the light out when not in use. A huge flat-screen wall mounted TV with freeview channels in the bedroom and the standard extremely comfortable P.I. double bed with the usual top quality P.I. bed linen. I note that a previous reviewer has criticised the high temperature in the room at night. I think they have a fair point. The A/C is not very effective and coupled with a window that can only open a few inches, I don't think it would be too comfortable during a heatwave. However during our stay, the recent heatwave conditions had finished so we slept extremely well.
The only noise we heard through the night with the window open, was the bells chiming from the nearby Church Clock which was not an unpleasant intrusive noise at all.
The best part of all was the price we paid for such a comfortable, quality room. I booked online just over a month ago and got all four nights for £29 for the room per night. So a total of £116 for our four night stay. Now that is what I call outstanding value for money.
The value for money doesn't just stop at that amazing room price. They currently have a happy hour (two hours actually) between 5 pm and 7 pm Monday to Thursday inclusive, where you get two drinks from the bar for the price of one. That includes non-sparkling wines served both by the glass and the bottle too. We bought a bottle of perfectly drinkable Chilean Sauvignon Blanc for £13.49 served at our table in the bar in an ice bucket with a second bottle free!!
I asked the staff how long that offer would last - they didn't know but had heard of no plans to finish it any time soon.

That moves me neatly on to the staff. They were brilliant. I'm surprised to read of a recent critical review of them - but we must all speak as we find. I thought they were exceptional. I would like to express my gratitude to Gemma, Emma, Louise and Danyel. They were all extremely hospitable friendly and welcoming. A big thank you to all. Staff like yourselves make all the difference to a guests Hotel experience.
For our last night we purchased the meal deal package at £22.99 each. That package includes a two course meal in the evening plus a drink from a limited selection and then the all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast in the morning. We both had Sirloin steak medium rare which was perfectly cooked and one of the best steaks we've had in a long time. Once again - brilliant value for money. If you wanted to have a three course dinner, that could be purchased for only £2 extra.

I would add a note of caution. We stayed mid-week from Monday to Thursday night. The weekend experience at this hotel with the possibility of Hen and Stag parties staying here could well be totally different. Something to be borne in mind.

Highly recommended for a midweek stay. Would love to return.

The hotel is well situated for the city center only a 5-10 minute walk, the NCP car park as described is opposite the hotel, at current is 8.50 for 24hrs when ticket is stamped by reception,(if not currently 20.00 pounds for 24hrs)we didnt need our car at all for 3 days.Good breakfast buffet, and all you can eat ,staff all very friendly. Now for the bad bits room temperature only goes down to 19 degrees only have winter quilts on bed and windows have restrictors on them(and rightfully so)therefore expect a very warm room if you go when its summer time or on a warm evening, have been to other premier inns where the temp can go lower than 19 degrees c so thought this was strange.reception confimed that the temp doesnt go any lower than 19 degrees and offered a fan which didnt make much difference,we didnt get a good night sleep and when we said so on checkout no mention of the" guaranteed good night sleep policy"then ,surprise surprise .we have stopped in numerous premier inns and never had this problem with the room being so warm, shame because i would think twice before going back to this one.

I had a wonderful stay here. The staff were wonderful and couldn't have been more so. The rooms were very modern and classy. Plus it was very central so any walking was short and sweet. It was a great stay and I would recommend for anyone.
