Myself and my husband stayed here over the Patrick's weekend on the Sunday night. Looks very contemporary - lots of oak/walnut panelling in the common areas and lift which makes you feel like you're in a very posh Finnish sauna. Anyway, the room was brilliant, REN toiletries (I'm a fan) and although we didn't get a room with a view, we were happy with the Sunday special price. Staff were lovely too, couldn't do enough. Only gripe was the London Carriage restaurant. When we called in around half 2, they were doing a Mother's day lunch. We only wanted a light bite, so ordered 2 sandwiches. They took over 30 mins to come and we had to prompt the staff twice after ordering. And my croque madame looked like it had had a fight with the egg. Anyway, had we been warned that they couldn't cope, we'd have gone elsewhere. As it was this was the only dud note on a great weekend.

Room Tip: Don't order food in the restaurant when they're running specials!

Enjoyed a great two nights. The staff were really warm, friendly and helpful. Lots of nice touches like free fruit, running routes and fantastic big comfy bed. We had a basic room which was great and ample with everything you'd expect for a quality boutique hotel. Highly recommend a stay here. Great resteraunts on the door step. Pop in the Philamonic pup for a great pint in amazing surroundings.

Room Tip: A door on the corridor outside room 302 may annoy some guests

I was booked into this hotel on a recent business trip. Was surprised by the 'comtemporary' design, in which a large part of the main entrance was blocked by a wooden pane (for no good reason apart from the fact that it is different presumably no one is stupid enough to do so). The service was ok, when I arrived they couldn't found my booking but offer to sort it out the following day with the person who made the booking. What annoyed me is the design of the corridors. Is this a joke or what, one step here, two or three steps there. At one point there's a step down right after the doors, and there's many doors. From the lifts to the rooms I've passed at least three doors and many irregular steps throughout. Does it every cross the designer's mind that when people check in they'd have their luggage with them and all those doors and steps make it unsafe for them to walk? I was extra careful but was close to a fall in several occassion. Put simply, it is not a user-friendly hotel.

My wife and I stayed at Hope St Hotel for one night in March 2012. The location was perfect for us as we were booked to see a concert at the Philharmonic Hall which is about 20m away. We also ate just round the corner at The Quarter which we would highly recommend.

The staff on reception were friendly and very helpful. The room was excellent and the bathroom clean and spacious. The breakfast was great value for money at £10 a head and the waitress was attentive and helpful.

The hotel is only a 20 minute walk to Liverpool One and Albert Dock and about the same to the Walker Art Gallery. It is also midway between the Catholic and the Anglican Cathedrals which are both certainly worth a visit.

Fancy a trip to Liverpool? Go for it! It has so much to offer. We will be back soon and will book in at Hope St Hotel.

Stayed in one of the deluxe rooms number 117 which was excellent.
View was poor overlooking a derelict building but quiet except for the noisy neighbour falling through his door at 4am Sunday morning.
Shower and bath two of the biggest we have come across and the room has everything except for a mirror near to the dressing table.
Reception staff are excellent and the parking at £10 per day is reasonable for the inner city.
Breakfasts were good and plentiful. The Liverpool Philarmonic is 100yds away and there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from.
You are a good 15-20mins walk away from Liverpool one and the dock area. OK going downhill but coming back with all the shopping, take a taxi for £4.
Best hotel we have stayed in for some time even accounting for the waiter accidentally spilling a glass of wine and tonic water over my trousers on the first day!

We picked the hotel based on reviews and the close location to the Philharmonic and really had an excellent stay.
The hotel is in a good location between Liverpools two cathedrals and far enough out of town to avoid the chaos that comes with that.
We arrived early at the hotel and left our bags whilst we had some lunch, on returning to check in we had the pleasant surprise of being upgraded to a penthouse suite. The room was fantastic comprising of two floors and balconies on either side of the hotel with amazing views of the city.
All the staff were very helpful and attentive and deserve a big thank you.

Dear thegayrabbi,

Thank you for such lovely comments, and we are pleased you enjoyed the view from our terraces – it’s a fantastic view over the city as far as Wales! We often work with the Phil and put together concert packages, so watch out for these in the future.

Best wishes,
Mary CD
