“Absolutley Love Hope Street”
Reviewed 14 June 2012

Me and my wife stayed here on our wedding night a year ago, we decided to celebrate our anniversary by staying in the penthouse. On both stays we have been blown away by the room, the service and the food. We love this hotel and will continue to stay in it when we get the chance.

Well done Hope Street and all the staff, Well done

Stayed for one night -sat 9 june. Location good - even better if you are interested in churches. Situated equal distance between the 2 main cathedrals - paddy's wigwam (catholic) and the C of E (5th largest in the world). Did not eat in the restaurant (London Carriage Works) but talking to locals they say it is one of the best in Liverpool - make sure you reserve a table in advance. I find it strange that the following points were not recitfied before we checked in. Wash hand basin tap not properly secured (wobbly and loose) to the vanity unit - no shelf within the vanity unit therefore all the pipe work, waste was visible. The floor (and I presume all floors) are wooden and I was woken at 7am by childrens footsteps running around and this continued till approx 8.30am - probably no sound proofing/insulation.
Booked through Mr & Mrs Smith website which offered a bottle of wine on arrival in the room. No wine was awaiting us and I was not asked when checking in what I would like. It only arrived when I asked for it. There was only one 'soft' chair for relaxing in when there was easily enough room for two. You may think this is nit picking but attention to detail does matter.

Usually stay in this hotel when working for the graduation team for University of Liverpool. The whole hotel is class, with a swedish log cabin kind of feel and rustic feel about it. The rooms are compact but very modern and nice. Staff were friendly and a good breakfast is served with a choice as well. Keep an eye open for any TV or film stars as this is one of their hotels which is star listed. It is also well located in the city within walking distance of main centre.

My wife and very recently went to Liverpool Philharmonic to see te Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. While we were booking on the Phili's website there was a page on "Where to Stay". It told us that the hotel was quite literally over the road, and so it was. The hotel had a vacancy, so we went ahead and booked. We had a very pleasant welcome from the receptionist who after registering, showed us to our room, not the usual in some other hotels who you throw you the keys and now look for your room. We had a room on the 3rd Floor. It is a lovely room with spectacular views of the local skyline. Very large comfortable bed and a modern bathroom. Very nice! But no toilet brush in the toilet, strange for such a quality hotel not to have one. A good night's sleep ended with an early wake-up call for breakfast. The dining room was light and airey. Excellent breakfast. Early morning papers delivered to your room, how good's that? So, all in all, a very pleasant stay and we will definitely return and will recommend to friends.
