Just returned from a lovely stay at Hope Street Hotel, location is in great area, handy for everything and it was nice to stay in an independent hotel where everything has been thought through. Simple stylish decor, lovely comfy beds, nice bathrooms and Ren toileteries , staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good too. Nice touch was lots of local produce in the restuarant. The only thing that wasn't to taste was the glass shards in the restuarant, a bit too easy to walk into !

Room Tip: Great views of the city from the upper floors, really convienent to the Philharmonic hall.

Very comfortable rooms with good bathroom, shower and other facilities. Very convenient central location opposite the Philharmonic Hall. A welcoming, stylish and independently run hotel. Excellent service - especially at breakfast. The Liverpool Breakfast was top notch.

Before arrival a quick call was made to check the parking situation, yes a space left but oh no that guest paid extra to leave it till 4pm. Hmm. Charged double for parking opposite the hotel/behind Philharmonic hall, cheek.
Upon arrival the receptionist was pleasant, we were given our room key on the second floor. Loved the staircases! Walked to the end of the corridor to be hit with the smell of weed from another room, very classy.
Room was slightly disappointing, we had expected to be staying in a king deluxe but instead got the standard and the king was in fact two single beds pushed together.
The room was small, nice change from a chain hotel room but hardly overwhelming and boutique. The bathroom was disappointing after seeing photos on the website, standard bath not free standing or wooden, instead with mould along the seal.
We had cocktails and beers in the bar before heading out, lovely and good service. Nice atmosphere.
The weedy neighbours caused us further annoyance when at 2am they returned screaming & shouting, after an hour plus of trying to ignore it, a quick call to reception and a dash up by the duty manager to tell them to be more considerate got them to shut up.
We had bed and breakfast with our stay, the Liverpool breakfast. Oh dear! Overpriced and cold. It was totally cold, every single item of the cooked breakfast buffet with the exception of the locally sourced sausage which was delicious and warm. The egg, baked beans, bacon, mushrooms all flat cold and they charge in excess of £15 per guest!
Check out of 12noon at weekends was great but we were up early and after the poor breakfast checked out a little early.
Overall nice hotel but standard rooms really are just standard, receptionists are lovely and friendly, breakfast poor. We would stay again but ensure we got the better rooms!

Hotel with a difference. Such a pleasant change from the standard chains out there these days. Our room had a raised sitting area complete with desk, sofa and television. Very comfortable with everything thought of for our comfort. Staff were charming, restaurant and bar buzzing, easy parking over the road and perfect location. Would definitely recommend to others and shall book again next time we travel that way.

Room Tip: Splash out a little more and request a room with sitting area

Coming to the end of a seven months stint working on the Liverpuddlian soap opera Hollyoaks and having spent innumerable nights in Jury's Inn ( nice though it is) my partner and I choose to seize the opportunity of Valentines weekend for a closer look at one of our most charismatic and vibrant cities.

Thanks to some nice Mr and Mrs Smith vouchers that my partner had, we booked into the Hope Street hotel, a place I have longed to visit as friends in a Liverpool tell me that when it's on for, its a great place.

Moving from Jury's after two days filming on a very rainy Friday at noon to Hope Street was great. But yet again I amreminded of how it is staff that make a hotel. The receptionist who checks me in, Rosie, blurts out that my partner has ordered flowers for the room for me. Surprise gone there then. Filling a cup with boiling water to make tea in the room and suddenly papers and scripts are soaked as the cup was cracked and water floods everywhere. Rosie arrives, no sense of hurry, with a cup, a cloth, and no apology.

The room is great. Beautiful appointed, big bed, great sofa, nice touches and great ambient lighting. The wardrobe wouldn't support more clothes than a few nights, and very little drawer space. Huge bathroom with fabulous bath and great shower. Ren toiletries so all well there. Some rather overworked technology to turn on and off the lights, and as I'm to find out in the middle of the night, not always reliable. It's supposed to give a way of dimming the lights but it's just a nuisance.

The towel rail in the atheism doesn't work. It isn't on and the room is cold.

Rosie to the rescue who says that I have to turn off the heating in the main room to let the bathroom heat up! Doh! Why didn't I think of that? Possibly because the room is cold and I want the heating on.

Rosie seems to think I'm in the wrong. A later call to reception produces Abi Every hotel should have an Abi .She's cool, and concerned re the towel rail. There's nothing she can instantly do, but she does everything in her power to make me feel better. She's focused and concerned, and even takes the trouble later in the evening to call up to the room to tell me that my partner is on his way up when he arrives from London.

The room is very cosy.

Breakfast is expensive at £16.50 a head, and it's self service. Last time I paid that price for a hotel breakfast it was carried in on the back of a lion!

It's a good breakfast but poorly served. We have to ask three times for sugar for cereal. Tea is not refreshed without asking. Pastries run out early, and a dirty cup is replaced with no word of apology.

Both mornings the wrong papers are delivered to the room. Rosie took the order and I could see at that time that she hadn't taken in what I had asked. She also didn't check with me that she had the right order, and was too busy going through her receptionists script, reeled off with no thought, rather than engaging with guests on a one to one basis.

The final coup do grace is that on checkout Rosie prints out the bill with the room rate charged to Mr and Mrs Smith on it. Quite a bit less than my partner paid to them. Not a brilliant move.

Shame because The Hope Street hotel is beautifully appointed. A quiet and luxurious haven in the heart of a vibrant and sexy city.

I'd love to get the chance to stay there again and see if they can get it right. But soap opera accommodation allowances don't stretch to Hope Street prices, so the weekend we've had will have to be the one we judge it on.

And on that....The cracks show a little toomuch.

Dear claytoncast,

I send our sincere apologies for the mishaps and mistakes we made during
your stay.

Our colleague who you focus on has given me a full report on the incidents that you mention, and knowing her sweet and professional nature (please see so many other posts mentioning our staff of which she is one) I am confident that her apologies were made.

I would like to thank you for your kind comments about Abby, and about the room, and to apologise again for disappointing you. I hope we will have the chance to welcome you again in the future.

Best wishes for your further travels,

Hotel doesn't disappoint, staff were super friendly and quick, the inside of the hotel is really nice and modern.
Room was large lovely furnishings that give that extra special touch.
Fast wifi and the bathroom was great with a massive bath and shower. I love baths so was nice to have a hotel with one as they all seem to just have showers nowadays.

From the warm welcome when we arrived to the efficient and helpful checking out we were impressed by the friendliness, approachability and efficiency of all the staff we met. The room was spotless and well appointed. We ate breakfast and evening meal at the London Carriage Works restaurant and the food was excellent. During our stay we went to a concert at the Philharmonic Hall and it was great just to walk across the road there and back. Also worth a mention is the fascinating brochure in the bedroom detailing buildings of interest in Hope Street and other interesting facts about the hotel and its environs. I would definitely recommend the Hope Street Hotel.
