Issues were - abrupt staff at check in; demanding rudely for a pre-payment; shower door in room was not fitted properly; holes in shower wall filled with 'yellowing' tippex which another guest had made into a smiley face using the cracks; room worn out with stains everywhere; very noisy room with street noise drifting into the area in the early hours; partner awoke with bite marks on her legs despite going out in trousers; room lit up through daylight coming in at 0600 hrs due to no curtain which woke us up; not one word of thanks on check out. Also told we were getting an upgrade to find out on check out we had not. Overall - terrible and will not return.

Dear HWMR,

Oh dear! Once we have identified your room we will be in like flash to inspect and repair. I have no record of you speaking to us directly, we would have course worked immediately to look at ourselves and your experience. Please talk directly if you have any issues elsewhere, the industry genuinely only wants to make everyone happy.

This was one of the loveliest hotels in Great Britain I've ever been in. The service is perfect, the stuff is more than friendly, the rooms are just wonderful and the breakfest is deligthful! And at last - the hotel is opposite of the wonderful Philharmonic Hall, a great building from the 1930s with exceptional concerts from the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Just perfecht to combine culture and leisure!

Dear troglodyt,

Thank you for your wonderful review and for writing it in English for us! We are fortunate to have the Liverpool Philharmonic opposite, so pleased you were able to enjoy time with us both.

We stayed here for two nights recently and were impressed. It's a great location in the heart of the Georgian quarter and midway between Liverpool's two great cathedrals. Plenty of restaurants, bars and pubs within walking distance and its own very good restaurant The London Carriage Company.

Staff are very friendly and efficient; rooms are immaculately clean and bathrooms have fault free plumbing and huge, fluffy white towels!

The only downside was the price - £440 for two nights in a standard room, but remember you do have to pay for quality!

At present the hotel is extending and consequently half hidden by scaffolding, but don't let this put you off. Pleasant, helpful staff, comfortable well sized bedroom, clean corridors, all mod cons and adequate breakfast (both in choice and size). A good location near university, cathedrals and Georgian streets.

I was coming to the Royal Philharmonic Hall for one night and had problems booking but that was more than made up for by the deal offered. The room was beautiful and comfortable and literally just across the road from the hall.

Dear franb0nd,

Thank you for your kind review and always happy to be convenient for a night out at the Liverpool Phil, next time avoid the rush at the Phil bar and have your interval drinks with us!
