“Revue of 4-day break”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

Have stayed at Premier Inn, Albert Dock quite a few times over the last few years and it is one of the best we have stayed in. All the staff are courteous and helpful, the food is good and the location is excellent. We stayed Thursday 24 to Monday 28 July for the Giant Puppet spectacular in Liverpool city centre. Just a couple of negatives for this stay. The hotel was very busy as you can imagine and obviously breakfast times are extremely busy and you have to queue which is not a problem and we did vary our times but on Sunday morning it was chaos and I felt sorry for the staff. One or more of the kitchen staff had not turned in and we had to wait for up to 10-15 minutes for food to come out of the kitchen, some of restaurant staff had to cover the kitchen and tables were not being cleared fast enough and not enough clean pots or cutlery. The breakfast manager was run off her feet as the bar till had broken as well and she had to manually add up the bills for people paying for breakfast on the day as well as booking people in. Perhaps when another big event is on more staff can be drafted in to help. That said the food was brilliant both at breakfast and in the evening. The staff even held our reserved table for us one evening when we were late back to the hotel.

The rooms are real value for money and we booked a 'quiet area' and were able to get a good nights sleep. However, a bit disappointed at the cleanliness in room 330 which wasn't as good as in previous stays. Quite dirty under rim of washhand basin and under rim of toilet, dirty plaster under bed from previous occupants, only noticed this on day of departure when checking we had everything before we left. The bed was only made up on two days out of 4 even though maid had been in to change towels.

It wont put us off staying at this hotel in the future but hope the comments will be taken on board by management.

Dear PW,

Thank you for posting a review of the Premier Inn Liverpool Albert Dock. I'm happy to read that we met all of your expectations.

We as mentioned in previous reviewer responses had a few operational challenges that weekend, due to team members unable to get to the hotel, and thus creating some challenges. The tills failing certainly exascerbated the situation further.

Breakfast times are displayed in our guest lifts, which inform of the quieter and busier times to dine, as bottleneck's usually occur, and so we endeavour to manage guest expectations this way.

Comments from forums like TA are alway's taken onboard by myself and the senior team, and your constructive feedback is greatly received.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the very near future.

Kind Regards

Ian Callaghan

I spent 3 nights here mid week with two friends who had not been to Liverpool before. Our rooms were clean comfortable and spacious (mine was enormous!!!) The breakfasts were excellent and the hotel is well placed for the many visitor attractions nearby and Liverpool One shopping, also a large selection of restaurants on the doorstep. The staff were all very helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Room 176 was brilliant but there was nothing wrong with my friends room 160

Dear BurySusieQ,

Thank you for posting a review of the Premier Inn Liverpool Albert Dock. It is a fantastic place to stay, and so is the location which is absolutely wonderful.

Romm 176 is my actual favourite room, and I'm glad you liked it. You can see the River Mersey, and the Liverpool Eye all from this room.

I'm pleased to read that you and your friends had a great time in Liverpool, and we look forward to welcoming you back very soon.

Kind Regards

We stayed here for two nights, mid-week, with our two young children. The hotel is in a amazing location, which is why we chose it over other budget hotels in the area. We visited all of the nearby, free, museums on foot. Very easy to access.

We had a family room, on fixed double bed and two camp beds for the children. One of the beds was badly placed. I understand that it's an old building with certain authentic features, which cannot be removed but the head of our sons bed was pushed against a solid pillar which he banged his head on, quite badly, in the night and after a lot of tears ended up in bed with us. Thankfully our bed was big enough for probably 3 adults so it was fine. Unfortunately we did have a very loud neighbour, nobody's fault but in the night we all heard heavy snoring through the wall. My daughter said it sounded like there was a cow sleeping in the next room! Comfortable beds though, just very flimsy pillows.

The TV was pretty small but it worked and had full freeview channels available. Minimal tea and coffee making facilities. Hair dryer, built in soap and shower gel dispensers, plenty of towels.

We paid for full breakfasts for two mornings. It worked out as excellent value for money as the children ate free and it was help yourself, all you can eat and drink. Great choice of both hot and cold breakfast foods, a variety of juices and hot drinks. We were lucky enough to get a window seat on the second day and ate overlooking the boats on the dock. One slight thing, the windows were filthy! Inside and out in the dining area and our room.

There is no parking attached to the hotel itself, however, we parked at Waterfront Parking, literally a couple of minutes walk away, and got our ticket validated at the hotel reception when we checked out. This gave us 25% off and meant we paid £18 for 48 hours parking. Perfectly reasonable rates, you won't really find cheaper in the vicinity.

The staff were very friendly and told us everything we need to know upon arrival, as well as asking us if we had a parking ticket to validate before we even brought it up. They explained the breakfast process.

Overall we were pleased with our stay. We felt that it was good value, especially with food added. It seems like a pricey breakfast but when you consider that it's all you can eat, drinks included, and our children ate free it worked out very well for us.

Dear NeedleintheGrooves,

Thank you for posting a review of the Premier Inn Liverpool Albert Dock. I'm happy that we met all of your expectations.

Some of the rooms are unusual in size and shape, and as you can appreciate there are many restrictions placed upon us, including historical features within the rooms. I hope your son is feeling better, and I apologise for any stress caused to your family.

The windows are greatly impacted by the port location and the usual inclement weather. Wind and rain can affect the inner windows if the external windows are open.

Thank you for your informative review, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Kind Regards

Ian Callaghan

Excellent hotel, probably the best Premier Inn in the Country for location and rooms. The Albert Dock Premier Inn Hotel is a grade 1 listed building and the rooms have the character to go with it, Victorian architecture at its best.

Stayed here for two nights sun/mon. Very reasonable prices and the family room was massive and very beautiful with the open brick work and curved ceiling I loved it. Bed very comfy and all very clean. The location is perfect right next to the Beatles Story on the docks, our room also had a view of the dock which was really nice. Breakfast was lovely plenty of choice, staff very friendly. We will be back next year.

Well converted from a warehouse and rooms are big. Bed is guaranteed as the best nights sleep or you money back. The bed was brick hard and we had the worst night's sleep ever. The bath had a ring of scum when we tried to have a bath. Had to clean it first..... Not impressed.
Ideally situated is all the rooms have going for it as a hotel room. However the restaurant was excellent both for break fast and dinner. Staff all very friendly and helpful as well as attentive. Recommend the meal deal as it is great value.

Dear DavidSmith29,

Thank you for posting a review of the Premier Inn Liverpool Albert Dock. I'm sorry that we did not meet your expectations particularly in Housekeeping.

The bed is very personal to the individual, and I alway's ask guests to let us know at the time if they are unhappy with any aspect of their room/bed, as we could have moved rooms, or offered additional bed support.

We pride ourselves on having exceptionally clean rooms and bathrooms, and I shall be sure to pass your feedback onto the housekeeping team, as it is unacceptable to have to remove scum yourself.

I'm pleased that you found our food & beverage offerings to your liking, and I do appreciate your constructive feedback in relation to all aspects of your stay.

Kind Regards

Ian Callaghan
