“Prime location, stylish rooms & friendly staff”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

We booked the Z Hotel as part of my 40th birthday, for family and ourselves. Our party comprised of a single 34 year old, two couples in their late 60s and myself and girlfriend; and stayed for two nights (Thurs and Fri). We were greeted by very friendly staff at the reception, which is located in the cafe area. Our party opted for the rooms with windows (rather than the internal rooms) and had a brilliant view of the cityscape of Liverpool, including the Liver building. The rooms are very modern, stylish, extremely clean and come with free Sky + (not that you really need to watch a TV as theres so much to do). The glass shower/wet room is a quirky feature and adds to the stylishness of the room. We stayed in a queen room, which is slightly larger than the doubles. Theres free wine and cheese in the evenings (located in the reception area) and in the mornings theres breakfast available. The location of the hotel is just across the street from the Cavern Quarter. Being light sleepers (and also having older people in the party) we were a little worried about the noise, but there was no need to be. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are in Liverpool for a couple of nights. (For older couples or those staying longer than two nights I would recommend the queen rooms). A massive thank you to Michelle and the staff at Z Hotel!!!

Room Tip: For older guests or those staying longer than two nights I would highly recommend the Queen size roo...

We stayed at the Z Hotel at the beginning of November and, from beginning to end the stay was great. We'd been delayed on the train but the staff were so friendly we soon put that behind us. It was my birthday and we were given some sparkling wine and had been upgraded to a room with a great view of the city, including the Liver Building.

The rooms are not huge but for a city break they are great; comfy beds, great shower and incredibly clean. There is a tv and free wifi too, which are great extras.

On the Friday and Saturday we stayed there was cheese and wine for residents in the evening; a really nice touch and made you feel that bit more special.

Location wise, we couldn't have asked for more. 5 minutes from the Cavern Club and you walk to all the major city sights and shopping centre.

Finally the staff; all so friendly, cheerful and helpful. Just brilliant - a lovely welcome to what we found to be a great city'

Based on previous reviews I booked one night at the Z Hotel, staying mid-week.

It was quite difficult to find being a back entrance to a mainly disused office block, I actually thought it was a cafe. Reception isn't too obvious (being the counter of the 'cafe'), but the staff are polite and very attentive.

There are actually three lifts, two of them being in the derelict office block lobby next door (which I originally mistook for the hotel reception), the other for hotel use. The lower 5-6 floors are disused, the top 3-4 floors are the hotel. Since its been converted from an office building the rooms are crammed into what space is available, meaning they are very compact. The beds, TV and shower are excellent, at least once the TV was fixed. The beds are pushed up against almost three walls, there is no storage and even as a single visitor it felt almost cell-like. Decor was ok but starting to fall apart a little. There were also laundry carts stored in corridors, which was a little unprofessional.

Back to the 'cafe' before going out for the night to the very vibrant and varied scene surrounding the hotel (excellent location) I enjoyed a glass of wine and a couple of tasty cheeses, which is a nice touch. Breakfast in the same place is also pleasant and tasty, although a little cluttered with the tables so close. Hope they never get a breakfast rush as there's not much space.

Overall, an average experience and would probably look elsewhere (in the same area) next time I'm in Liverpool,

Room Tip: Given the pokey nature, I'd go for an outside room if you don't want to feel too claustropho...

Great hotel in the centre of Liverpool close to all the attractions . Helpful staff and there was free cheese and wine on offer the two nights we stayed . The wet room was certainly a new thing that I hadn't come across in a hotel. Would recommend to friends.

Strange one the z hotel ,fantasticly clean modern hotel with a couple of small set backs. The staff at reception/bar were very knowledgable and always pleasant. The room is spotless if a little small and the location is great for visiting all the liverpool attractions. The only slight downsides are the lack of space for clothes, bags etc in the room and I've got to admit the strange toilet/shower cube, you feel very conscious using the toilet.
Would recommend this hotel for a place to visit a great city for a nite or two but only for younger couples
You get a free glass of wine and cheese/grapes too early evening

Very simple commuter hotel, very clean, central location, friendly staff.
The rooms are small and functional, well designed and comfortable, If you are in the city for a night or too, looking for value for money and travelling by yourself or as a couple, this hotel fits the bill.

Room Tip: Can be a little noisy early morning.
