After arriving in Liverpool around noon on a sunny Friday I stumbled through the streets and came across "The Fly In The Loaf". The outside seating area was pretty busy while there were lots of free tables inside. After a short discussion about their fantastic range of beers the friendly bartender recommended a Liverpool Organic Brewery beer that I really enjoyed. For lunch I had a warm hummous and cheese sandwich with polenta sticks. Excellent quality, fast service. Even got a second beer brought to the table.

Went on Saturday for a drink and was thoroughly impressed by both the standard of t he refurbishment as well as the excellent and attentive service.

We came to the bar and while we mused on the different drink options we must have been offered service 2 or 3 times, at 8 pm on a Saturday that's impressive.

An excellent choice of craft beers and real ales on draft, in bottle and can. I had old favourite Brooklyn Lager.

We did not eat as we where going to the restaurant over the road Valparaiso.

Went to the fly after it's recent refurb. Still a fab pub but let down by the increase in prices. Some draught beers are £6 a pint although the lads serving told you that beforehand. Seems a bit expensive for a pub in liverpool maybe trying to claw back the refurb money. Most other draught beers are the usual £4.50 range as are the bottled stuff. Still one of the best pints in liverpool but beware some beers are £6 a pint so don't get a round in lol unless you got your credit card handy. Nice refurb and the toilets are spotless

Myself and 2 friends called in recently for a quick drink and meal before attending a local event. We were impressed with the pub itself, the staff and the beer. Then we get to the meal which, I have to say, was the very worst I've had in a long time! We all ordered the steak and ale pie with a portion of chips each. Pie was served on it's own with no gravy, nor was there any gravy or moisture of any sort in the pie itself, so all very dry indeed and very unpleasant. Chips looked like they'd been cooked in batter so were not nice at all and were served with a very hot and spicy sauce, rather than something more neutral like simple mayonnaise, so none of us touched that either. And all for £7 too. Overall then a really nice pub that, for us, was spoiled by a very poor meal indeed.
