“ripe for demolition few redeeming features”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

This hotel was the only one under £100 a night in Liverpool last night. The room was ensuite partly clean, tiny shower and everything was up 4-5 flights of stairs with no disabled access. The breakfast was ok, but the room where it was served down 5 flights, was derelict and in need of major works. The hotel in sandwiched between two rough pubs and a bookie and has rubbish standing in the window sill outside.

We do NOT have disabled access as this is a listed building with no lift and we make anybody who needs it aware of it.
If they still want to stay we make sure they are well looked after and we have had many guests who have taken advantage of the arrangements and returned for another stay.
This couple did not mention anything to the receptionist about being disiabled.
We have 2 floors; a first and a second, and to get to the second you go up 3 short flights.
The 'rough pub' attached to the Hotel is a typical local and closes most nights about 9pm.It is also one of the pubs that collects the most money on Meseyside per month for the childrens Hospice ZOES PLACE and if you go INSIDE you will SEE the letters of thanks from the Hospice displayed on the notice board.
We have TODAY had a surprise visit off a quality assessor from VISIT ENGLAND, who aseesed our rooms and the ammenities offered by us the and confirmed our 4 stars which we have held since we opened 10 years ago.

Hi,

Just sitting down to catch up on some emails and do some reviews from past experiences. Six of us went over to Liverpool for my brothers stag do. Five of us pre-planed flights and accommodation, one left it last minute.

My experience was a while ago and I believe it was worth a review; also at the request of the proprietor at the time :-) I'm not getting the calendar out or phoning a friend about when exactly lol.

In short I had a grand stay as did my brother. The hotel was reasonably priced and I was looking forward to spending time with my bro. I made the stay along with the stag as enjoyable as possible.

The staff were great, service exceptionally good, venue was clean and practical. We even got breakfast in bed without request!

The guy who left it all last minute as some do, complained about everything the entire trip.

If i was going back to Liverpool I would return to the Throstles Nest Hotel.

Many thanks guys

Dave

On arrival we thought we had made a mistake coming to this hotel as the outside is not what we expected. BUT the mistake was jumping to conclusions. Our en-suite room was bright and spotlessly clean with free WIFI and drinks making facilities and the breakfast room had everything it needed and again was clean and welcoming. The breakfast choice was extensive and very well prepared. The hotel is very well placed for either walking, driving or using public transport into Liverpool city. The staff were brilliant - courteous and helpful - and gave excellent advise on the local attractions, how to get there and what not to miss. This hotel gives excellent value for money. We will definitely stay in this hotel again when we visit Liverpool.

Room Tip: Excellent triple room for couple and child

We stayed at this B&B last weekend on our recent trip to Liverpool and what a wonderful visit it was. The location is ideal if you are exploring as its within walking distance to both Anfield and the city centre. The reception staff were brilliant and really helpful and no request was too big or small. The hotel itself was very well maintained with a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere.

Our room was comfortable and quiet, and had cozy, traditional decor. Both the room and the bathroom were spotlessly clean and the perfect size for the two of us. The bedroom came with more than enough amenities and we had WiFi access which was great.

The breakfast offered a wonderful selection but we went for the full English. It was delicious, freshly cooked and piping hot (really welcome after a great night out)! The highlight throughout our stay was definitely the friendly and efficient service and the general atmosphere of this place. Its also great value for money, we are already looking forward to our next trip down to Liverpool!

Room Tip: If you need any pointers on sites to see, or if you are unfamiliar with the area then definitely ask...

Really lovely bed and breakfast-type hotel, and within walking distance of Liverpool city centre (or a £4 taxi ride away), with free parking around the side which is surprising in a busy place like Liverpool. Close to both Anfield and Goodison park so good if visiting either of them, and the staff were brilliant and gave us more information about what to do in the city than any of the tourist websites or brochures! Our room was great and the beds were comfortable, and didn't hear any noise at night which was a relief, will definitely stay here again next time we're in Liverpool.

Room Tip: When booking, book directly through the website and click the box that says 'quiet room'!

Good points not many I'm afraid staff where very friendly and helpful. Lots of bad points, no parking, rooms run down even after a recent refurb. My shock was an exposed electrical socket in the dining room/ pub pool room if an inspector seen that this hotel would have been shut down. For £75 I was shocked at the quality of the hotel I wouldn't pay £15 pound a night. Been in some rough horrible hotels in my time this was by far the worst. Will never stay in this hotel ever again very disappointing.

Four of us from Ireland stayed in this hotel while in Liverpool from the 24/5/14 to 26/5/14 for their bank holiday weekend. Arrived at the hotel early in the morning and were not expecting the rooms to be ready, but we were very surprised and impressed when we arrived and everything was ready to go when we got there and we were able to put our bags in our rooms, while we went on for a tour of Anfield (which is only a short walk away) and after went into the city centre to Liverpool One which is the massive shopping district. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, they will tell you all about the area and give directions. Four of us in our 20s looking to go out and experience the nightlife over there for the bank holiday weekend so we were shown where the best spot is for people of our age group and we were very impressed by it!!! The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and tidy, the breakfast every morning was brilliant. WiFi connection in the rooms also. Hotel location was very convenient for going out at night into the city centre, taxi is only £5. This hotel is fantastic and the staff make it, when we return to Liverpool we will definitely be staying in The Throstles Nest again.
