It was our first trip to Liverpool and we thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend there. Upon arrival we were impressed with the common areas of the hotel which were modern and spacious. The receptionists were friendly and professional and we were very pleased with our Superior Double Room.

Our room was spacious and clean. It featured a king size bed, desk, sofa and flat screen TV. The bathroom was outstanding and included a round shaped bath for two and a rainfall shower in a separate wet room.

The hotel is located in a quiet area alongside the river but only a 10 minute walk into town and the shops at Liverpool One.

When we return to Liverpool we will consider the Malmaison to be our first choice of accommodation as we left feeling totally relaxed and satisfied. Full credit to the friendly "can do" approach of the staff who are a credit to the hotel and made our stay such a pleasant one.

Stayed here on business for the night, arrived fairly late in the evening and parked in the multi storey across the road that reception directed me to. Felt it was quite expensive at £15 for the night but I guess that is cities for you. The reception and bar were very dimly lit which makes reading the paper over a beer quite awkward. I ate in the bar and chose fish and chips which was quite nice but not brilliant, the choice of ales was quite good with 3 different ones I think.

The room was very nice, quite different from most other rooms I've stayed in and the bathroom was very nice, wet room style of shower and very nicely laid out and finished.

I will probably stay here again next time I need to be in Liverpool

We really enjoyed our stay here. I wouldn't pay the full price usually as no room is worth silly money but as the room was on offer for 70 pounds we thought it would be a nice treat and we weren't disappointed. The hotel lobby was huge and beautifully decorated with plenty of seating and quirky accessories. We liked the dim lighting and thought the attention to detail really added to the atmosphere.
The large reception desk was manned with really helpful and friendly staff and check-in was easy. We found the nearby parking ok and experienced no issues with this.
Our room was a standard double and a good size. The window overlooked the opposite building and though not an attractive view unlike the back of the hotel overlooking the water, we had no complaints. The room was decorated in blacks and purples and quite dimly lit but I rather liked this. There was a well-stocked mini-bar and plenty of drinks and snacks available but these were all pretty expensive and not worth the money in our opinion so we took our own and used the fridge!
The hotel area by the dockside is full of glitzy restaurants and bars but we took a taxi to the city centre for a few pounds and a short taxi ride back again later that evening to sample some "real" Liverpool bars with more atmosphere.
The bed was very comfortable and we had a really good sleep. The bathroom is the best bathroom I've ever experienced in a hotel. Very large with a huge corner bath; a large wet room with fantastic shower - although we weren't keen on the giant mirror above the toilet opposite the shower - who wants to look at themselves whilst going to the loo?!!!
Giant fluffy towels were available and a great selection of full-size Arran Aromatics toiletries which were all listed as available to take home with you - a nice touch.
Staff were friendly upon check out and I'd certainly stay again if the hotel have further reasonably priced offers available.

A phone call at 11:30 pm to ask me to come and pay for my food bill was highly unexpected and very poor. I'd booked a room and called to reserve a table for dinner. Apparently dinner cant be charged to a room and i needed to pay. This was despite sitting in the restaurant and signing the bill with my room number at 9:30pm.
I called to speak to the manager and he still hasnt bothered to call back.
Very poor and not worth the £250 i spent for one night

We our Liverpool locals and wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary in local hotel. Last October we had passed the hotel and thought it looked impressive. On entering the hotel it was very dark and opressive, purple and black. Staff excellent, helpful and friendly. On the internet the room looked impressive too. After finding our room on the 5th floor through a dark, uninviting corridor, the room was equally dark. The bathroom had a slight musky smell. As we were staying only one night we quickly left the hotel for lunch. When we returnned in the evening we sat in the bar for a very short time as again the hotel was not inviting for us. on the whole the hotels dark decor seemed a cover for poor cleaniness. If we were staying at the YMCA this standard would have been accepable.

As a celebration of a two year anniversary i was looking for a romantic one-night getaway not far to travel from my home in Liverpool. This hotel was perfect. Check in was very simple and the rooms were clean and spacious. We did not sample the food or any facilities but the room was exactly as described. The bed was spacious and incredibly comfortable with amazingly soft pillows. The decor was a mixture of deep purple and red colours, ideal for a romantic getaway. The bathroom was well laid out and the complimentary toiletries smelt great and would have lasted a month let alone one night (the bottles were even labelled 'take me home'). The bath was large (although a separate shower was also available) and there was plenty of hot water, the tap was cleverly designed to be unobtrusive also. We slept well and were not disturbed at any point in the night. Checkout was simple and the staff were once again very polite, efficient and professional.

One or two very very minor points could have improved our stay: we walked to the hotel from town and it was not clear how to get to the appropriate part of the docks to enter, this could have been better signposted. Unless travelling by car the trip between the hotel and the dock entrance is quite long (perhaps make an entrance into the dock closer to the hotel?). The room we had faced another building so i was a little disappointed by the lack of a dock view, but obviously not all rooms can face the docks.

These points i have mentioned are minor and really should not perturb you from a stay at this wonderful hotel. It was a perfect getaway for one night and felt like an oasis away from the bustle of the city centre.

Room Tip: Ask for a dock view because the views on the other sides of the building are not particularly specia...

If you are a fan of the chain, you will love the Liverpool Malmaison! The welcome is efficient and genuinely friendly, and nothing is too much trouble for staff. I stayed in a room on the 5th floor which was large, spotlessly clean and kitted out to the usual high spec. The walls appeared to be quite thick, and on a busy Friday night I was not once disturbed by noise from the corridor or neighbouring rooms. The bed was enormous, and pleasantly firm, with an abundance of delightfully downy pillows. The hospitality tray was well stocked with ground coffee and a good selection of Taylors of Harrogate teas. The mini-bar also offered a range of tempting treats at prices so reasonable that resistance was futile and it felt like a genuine amenity, rather than a rip-off! The bathroom had a huge corner bath and a slate lined wet room shower, with a full range of toiletries, plenty of fluffy towels and a range of thoughtfully positioned hooks in both parts of the bathroom. The Plum bar was comfortable, offered an excellent wine list and service with a smile. I can't wait to return!
