“A very comfortable hotel”
Reviewed 28 May 2012

Stayed for one night at the Malmaison in Liverpool on business and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
The rooms are tastefully appointed with fantastically comfortable beds, great bathrooms and breakfast was equally pleasing. Well done.

Room Tip: I imagine that they are all good. Mine was.

Really liked this hotel. The room was modern and the shower was fantastic. The cocktail bar downstairs is really nice and the breakfast was great. Will definitely stay here again as it made passing through Liverpool that little bit more special. Very easy to access the isle of man ferries from this hotel as well as the shops and bars.

Really nice hotel for £69! I am probably used to London rates more than Liverpool but this rate was little over a tenner more than my usual hotel choice - the Premier Inn. It was also located only a 2 minute walk from where I was working the next day.

This is a great hotel - really full of design flare and character. The service was great from the moment I walked in til I left. The room was a good size with a really comfy super king bed with atmospheric lighting and design touches.

A couple of bits for improvement - more sockets - one socket on a work desk is not enough! The whole room only had three and considering I had two work laptops and a personal and company mobile with me I was out of luck! Also, there's no where to plug the kettle in - I had move all sorts around to manage to plug it in. The TV signal leaves a lot to be desired too - no freeview and the TV is slightly small.

I was also very hot (found it difficult to sleep) as the window wouldn't open and the air con didn't really work too well (though it has been a week of baking sun this week)

However, the rest of the room is to an excellent standard - a little chase and puffy alongside the comfy bed etc. The bathroom had a rainfall shower that went super hot - really nice and a massive bath which was very luxurious. The toiletries were really nice too.

Down side is that the breakfast is quite pricey and has little choice on the continental buffet - basically 5 cereals, 3 fruit bowls and a choice of a croissant or pain au choc is it.

I would definitely stay again if in Liverpool especially at that rate!

Myself & my husband stayed at the hotel for 1 night & had a great time.
The view from our room was amazing. The staff were very polite & helpful.
The food in the brasserie was very good, so was the breakfast.
We would recommend this hotel & are looking forward to the next time we stay.

The Malmaison get 5 * from us as we love it.
We agree that the breakfast is a bit steep price wise, so we always go to 'Bean,' which is just outside the hotel . As you are driving down the road to the hotel is is just on the left about 20 meters before the front steps to the main reception. They do various breakfast bagels etc for 1/3 rd of the price.
As for the carpark, we note that the daily rate is the same whether you are a hotel customer or just looking for somewhere to park. There is no concession, which would suggest that either they have tried and failed to secure this or that the Mal acutally own the carpark and are just milking you!
There is an open air carpark just before the secure one but at £10 per 24hrs, it is only £5 cheaper and your car is exposed.
We have hunted around for a closer carpark but taking into consideration weather and luggage, that carpark serving The Mal has you by the short and curlies!!

Quirky hotel, great to stay somewhere with a bit of personality, as mentioned before the decor is very dark but it adds to it's atmosphere
The staff we very helpful and allowed early check in, bedroom and bathroom were both clean and well equiped.
Hotel very close to the Liver Buildings and approx 10mins walk to Albert Docks and main shopping areas

Downsides 1 - £15 per night to park
2 - £13 for a continental breakfast ,which we thought offered very little choice, after staying in many hotels across the world we concluded that this was the poorest offering of them all,, if you fancied a boiled egg this added another £2 to your bill

We would stay here again as the location made up for poor food options

It's the busiest weekend Liverpool is likely to experience when the Giants were here from France and Liverpool were at home on sunday. I had booked a twin room months earlier and received a text an email and an ansafone message the few days before to tell me they were expecting us and checking if we wanted to book extras. Alas by the time we booked in at 5.30 ish they had over booked and said our only option was a double with a z bed or transfer to the travelodge!!!! we refused and were taken to the bar for a complimentary drink while they panicked. My friend was by then well on the way to a major migraine. By chance we were given our twin room which they had all along but were holding for a man and his son who were clearly known to the reception staff as they arrived just as we were booking in and were given the same z bed story which they accepted.
The room and our stay was very comfortable. Beds are great. Agree with other reviews about torches as everywhere is dark. We were given complimentary breakfasts for (being lied to!) our inconvenience. This was a fab meal freshly cooked loads of choice recommend the eggs Benedictine.
Would go back but only if we can book in early to guarantee a room and preferably the one booked! Z beds are for camping not alternatives to a twin room.

Room Tip: Book in early to guarantee getting your room
