We arrived at the hotel at about 6pm on a Friday evening for a 3 night stay, after parking in an independent car park opposite the hotel we were greeted by the staff on reception. They were very friendly and most helpful even changing our 9.15pm table booking to a slightly more reasonable 8.30pm booking. We stayed in a room on 6th floor at the side of the hotel overlooking the carpark. The room was nice, slightly smaller than any other mal room we've stayed in, nevertheless it was clean and equipped with a smart TV, nice comfy bed and fabulous bathroom with lovely wet room shower area, the only downside was the door could do with a door stopper behind it as it insisted on swinging open and banging on the side of the bath! We went down to the restaurant for 8.30 and were seated straight away, however, we didn't end up being served our food until after 9.15, not sure if this was due to the amount of diners or a shortage of staff! We ordered room service the next night of our stay and to be quite honest we would never order it again! We ordered pizza, chips and 2 drinks. It took 40 minutes for this to be delivered to our room and how they can call it pizza is beyond us, it was more like a big cracker/poppadom with a sprinkling of cheese and some onions on it!
On the first morning we ordered boiled egg and soldiers and asked for one lot soft boiled and one lot hard boiled, however, they were both hard boiled, on the second morning we ordered muffins one with scrambled egg and bacon and one with scrambled egg and sausage, they came out with fried eggs so we're sent back and when they came back to us we had one sausage and one bacon each, this wasn't a major problem to us, however, we weren't the only diners with the wrong breakfasts! Breakfast was perfect on the third morning, maybe due to it being a Monday and much quieter?!
The staff all seemed to work very hard and were always friendly, maybe they just need more of them?
Not one of our favourite malmaisons, possibly due to it being a purpose built hotel so lacking a bit of character and charm, nevertheless, despite everything we enjoyed our stay and would go back again.

We stayed 3 nights at the Malmaison and thoroughly enjoyed it. The lobby area is very modern and the staff were very welcoming.
The room had city and river views, a comfy bed and wonderful bathroom/shower area with good quality toiletries.
The food was a little expensive but we had a wide choice and thoroughly enjoyed our restaurant meal followed by cocktails.
The proximity to the dock area was a bonus and it was great to be so close to the museums and shopping opportunities.
If you are after something a little different, try the Malmaison.

This is a lovely hotel, with a welcoming, trendy lobby and luxury rooms. We stayed in a 5th floor room with a 'river view', and we weren't disappointed. The bed was firm and comfortable (though we should have asked for extra pillows), and the bathroom is cool and clean, with a large bath and a shower 'wet room'. The toiletries are really good.

You have a smart TV with lots of channels, and wifi is free (though we didn't test it, having a good 4G signal on our phones). Room service was poor during our stay, and we would only comment that cold pizza that looks less than 'luxury' is not worth £23. We sent it back, and the room service manager was very professional and apologetic.

Breakfast is good, with a selection of cooked or Continental goodies, often made fresh rather than served in hot containers. I had waffles with banana, with melted Nutella served in a small copper pan. My partner had bacon and egg English muffins, which he enjoyed despite the eggs being overcooked. We washed it down with cappuccinos and fruit juice.

Other than the poor experience with room service, and almost being charged for two breakfasts instead of one at checkout, it's an exceptional hotel with friendly staff and nice places to hang out, such as the brasseries and the 2nd floor hallway, which includes a yellow submarine suspended from the ceiling! We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a 'river view', which will cost extra, but is worth it.

Our saturday night stay was combined with a theatre visit to see the Lion King so we decided to eat at the hotel restaurant which is set opposite the Albert docks. Sunny afternoon, sitting at the outside tables in a moderately busy restaurant, live band playing across to see the Queen Victoria off - what can possibly go wrong in such a romantic setting? Well, about 20 minutes!!!! after ordering our coctails (complimentary due to hotel package booked) a waitess appeared insisting we signed for the bill for food and drinks ordered, none of which arrived by then including the complementary coctails. After 5 mins of arguing she agreed to change the bill but still no sign or food for another 10 mins after which my partner gone to speak to the supervisor.... our pizzas arrived after a further 10 mins without any cutlery or crockery... and of course no drinks...and some of the food order still no drinks. After a long catalogue of errors, half the food still not delivered and drinks and cutlery arriving a further 10 mins after the food our bill was waived, only for the receptionist to attempt to charge it it the morning! The whole experience of being at the receiving end of disorganised, uncaring or inexperienced staff left a bad taste. Otherwise nice hotel but clearly need to try to provide value for the grossly overpriced food including the £13.95 breakfast which was a mediocre quality continental offering. Poor value for money.

Not stayed at a Malmaison before, and enjoyed my one night here.
Location is reasonable – Princes Dock is quite quiet, despite the Ruby Princess being moored.
Room 428 felt quite dark – a bit more lighting to help me see to put my make-up on would have been nice! Top marks for a decent hairdryer – if only there was a plug socket nearer to the mirror, it would have been perfect.
I don’t normally take a bath in a hotel (never sure what someone else has been up to) but couldn’t resist the lovely deep and sparkling clean one here. The rain shower for a morning wake up was nice too. Squeaky clean!
Bed was comfy with plump pillows. No windows to open - so the usual conundrum of too cold with air-con on & too hot with it switched off.
The continental breakfast was fresh &tasty, but it was all sweet – cereal, fruit, toast & jam or croissant. It would have been nice to see a couple of savoury items – without having to pay extra for a cooked/english breakfast.
Would definitely stay again.

A little bit away from the main bars and city centre but still with in walking distance.

The rooms are lovely furnished well and toiletries are great.

Staff are swift with service and the dry roasted nuts on request in the bar make it better than average.
