Booked here for our Anniversary. It was also a night away from our 1 year old so we were absolutely looking forward to it. Rooms are relatively small, our river view was in the corner of the window and I couldn't believe for the cost and 'swankiness' there is no pool? That's not their fault though I think we just assumed.

It has a funky and modern feel to it and the shower and toilet is in the wet room area and the sink and bath is in the main bathroom piece. Toiletries smelt lovely and generous portions (girl sized) good hair dryer. Tea and coffee facilities are weirdly positioned and there's a tray/drawer thing that is a bit useless under the telly no idea how that would help anyone.

Staff are friendly enough but I wouldn't say they went out of their way for us for anything.

To be honest with you I'm just looking for clean and comfort which it wasn't but it was clean. As a special night away from the baby I think I was perhaps really wanting a comfortable bed so thumbs down in that way but it was safe and clean.

Parking is not covered which is a flaming cheek! We moved our car from the Pall Mall one as check in wasn't until 3pm and figured there would be onsite car parking which there isn't.

In short it's ok but won't be staying here again as we expected more for the price and stayed in better hotels (next door)

Visiting for my sisters birthday, you rarely go wrong with a Mal!
Style, great rooms, spacious, beautiful bathrooms, Great breakfast, comfortable beds and good service!

Will always look for Malmaison when travelling, always consistent!

On the positive side it is in a great position and the room was large, clean, comfortable and well-stocked. However, unfortunately, the service let it down massively. Here is a list of the waiting times that we encountered during our overnight stay:-

Replacement batteries for TV remote: 30-45 minutes (after reminder telephone call)
Two cocktails via room service: 45-60 minutes (after reminder to staff) - We were offered two free cocktails to make up for the delay but were told we could not order them via room service as they were too busy despite originally being told that we could.
Breakfast - 15 minutes before anyone took our food order.
Cooked items - 15-30 minutes.
Additional toast to accompany cooked items (to replace toast eaten while waiting) - 15 minutes
Butter to accompany additional toast - Failed to materialise at all (resulting in additional toast remaining uneaten).
Breakfast took us some 60-90 minutes in total and certainly not by choice.

If you are going to call yourself the 'Mal' maison I would try doubly hard not to live up to your name!

My wife and I stayed for a night to celebrate our anniversary. We chose this hotel on a friend's recommendation and because we liked the location, being away from the bustle of the city centre, next to the river and a short walking distance from Albert Dock. We had a fantasic stay !
From the moment we walked in, we loved the chic ambience of the hotel. Tom on reception, who checked us in (and out the following day) was genuinely happy and friendly and couldn't have been any more helpful. Within a matter of minutes, we realised that Tom's attitude and approach to guests was the norm, having soon met the cleaner on floor 6 and the bar staff in the excellent hotel bar. We also bumped into the house manager Craig, who was exceptionally welcoming and helpful. After an afternoon's sightseeing, we returned for cocktails and later we ate in the hotel restaurant. We were not disappointed with the quality of food, it was excellent. We were however pleasantly suprised with the service we and other guests received from the restaurant staff, who worked hard, with smiles on their faces. In particular, our waitress, Sammie-Jo was so attentive, without at any time being over-bearing. Breakfast the following morning was excellent and set us up for another day's sight seeing. As we were checking out, we met the hotel General Manager, Danny who took time out of his busy day not only to ask us how our stay had been, but also to ask us where we had visited in the city. It is clear from his pleasant demeanour and genuine interest in us, that he sets the 'tone' for his staff's positive attitude and approach to guests. Whilst the hotel is first rate, the experience of staying there is achieved by the first rate staff who work there. We will definately be returning here.

Room Tip: Ask for or upgrade to a river view room for great views of the Mersey.

We stayed at this hotel on Saturday night for our 10 year wedding anniversary and were very impressed to say the least!! We wanted something a little different and special......have to say, the photos on the website do not do this hotel justice! A little pricey but well worth it. It is situated right next to Albert Docks which has a great selection of restaurants/bars. We had a river view which was fantastic. The room and bathroom were very clean, comfy bed, the bath and shower were well impressive, and the tea and coffee selection in the room were not your usual standard range (more upmarket). Tom on reception was very helpful and friendly, he even recommended some restaurants for us to have an evening meal......nothing was too much trouble! If you want a great modern and boutique hotel to stay in then this is the one. Thanks Malmasion Liverpool for a lovely weekend.
