“Cavern week-end”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

We visited Liverpool in february 2013 for a friends 50th birthday and stayed at this hotel for one night. It was a little more expensive than other hotels we have stayed at but well worth that bit extra. Great facilities and friendly staff helped make this a memorable week-end.

Room Tip: Our room was fine.

Stayed many many times at the malmaison chains and liverpool is the best one.

We've stopped in probably every room type and would say a superior room is a must, the kop suite is probably over priced and not quite as good as you'd expect, the toffee shop is very good and id argue is the best room.

The food is very nice, the service is very indiferent, some nights we have stopped and it's very good, others not so good.

The location is good.

The reception is a nice area and the staff there are always good and efficient.

Overall a good stay and will continue to stay here

My boyfriend and I have stayed at the Malmaison twice whilst visiting Liverpool. We booked the trip as a package with tickets to a football match on both occasions. Even arriving early for check in the staff were very accommodating. On the first visit, we were able to go straight to our room which we were very impressed with. On the second visit, the hotel was full so had to wait an hour or so which we didn't mind as we had a drink in the lovely bar area but still got into he room before check in time which was a bonus! The rooms are well decorated and have everything you need. Some rooms are nicer than others depending on what side of the hotel you stay on as you have the view of the docks. One of the nights the room next door were very noisy so we had to phone reception, straight away the security guard came up to check which was reassuring.

We would recommend the breakfast, it is very good and lots of variety to chose from. Also room service was excellent and the food tasted like restaurant quality! Highly recommend this hotel.

Prices are abit of a joke considering you have to pay between £10-£15 for parking so when we stayed for 2 nights its costing you upto £30 for the stay on top of the hotel fee. I was also furious as i recieved the sun newspaper the next morning after i specifically ask NOT to recieve that disgusting paper. I am a proud scouser & i felt like this was a insult(this paper should not be sold in liverpool full stop) rooms are on the small side but there is a lovely waterfall shower & a huge bath enough to fit a family in ha. Overall would stay again but needs some major rethinks to the above comments mentioned.

Dear Coley86,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback. We apologise if the incorrect newpaper was delivered outside your door, and that you were not aware of the parking cost at the multi storey car park. However, its lovely to hear that you enjoyed the bathroom so much! We hope to see you again at the hotel soon.

Kind regards.

Decent food let down by service provided by untrained kids

With what was meant to be one of the most memorable evenings of my life, unfortunately turned out so for the wrong reasons. I'd requested a table in a quieter part of the restaurant which was the first let down of the evening which seemingly led to a series of quite tragic events. The table was directly in the middle of the restraunt which we had had to wait for 20 minutes to actually be seated at. Service then arrived in the form of a young dark haired girl who quite obviously has no customer service experience or quite frankly no idea what a waiters job was. Said young lady was totally disinterested and at her own leisure allowed us to order drinks and food. After waiting 40 minutes and asking four different waiters where the wine was, the wine finally arrived to which it was delivered with what can only be described as beer glasses!? We poured and sipped the wine and knew it wasn't the right one as we had ordered an Italian white wine which wasn't quite as tart as the Brazilian white that arrived. We then asked to have the wine swapped for the one we had actually ordered and discovered reading the menu that we had been fobbed off with one of the cheapest bottle. Correct wine then arrived 15 minutes later after yet more asking. Shortly after this chain of events, we were told that the sea bass we had ordered was in fact no longer available which would of been fine however we had ordered our food an 40mins previously? Food was impressive when it finally did arrive which is a shame as the rest of the experience of what was meant to be a really great, romantic evening, as I had planned to stay in Liverpool for a number of weeks previously. This evening evening I was going to propose to my girlfriend but the ambience of the evening could not of been worse. I'm Staying in the London Malmaison hotel this weekend so fingers crossed won't have the same experience!!
