“Always a pleasure”

Malmaison's always seem so naughty you can't help liking them. The service was great, the room was clean and the breakfast was perfect. The customer service here let the place down a little, as when you're paying £16 for burger and chips you expect them to come together. What's worse was there was no suggestion of compensation or apology, this wasn't a one off mistake as there were 8 of us!
Otherwise the stay was comfortable and well located.

Just returned from a one night stay.

Overall the stay was great and we really enjoy it although there was some minor points if I'm being picky.

Firstly our welcome at reception was very unfriendly, we never got a "hi" or "hello". The receptionist was also like a robot reading a script and never smiled once, it made my partner and myself feel uncomfortable. It was almost like a inconvenience for her to check us in.

The bed was on the hard side, although once we got to sleep it was fine.

The shower gel and shampoo were just refilled with the same liquid and was no where near as luxurious as the label made out.

The bathroom was great, we used both the shower and bath and could not fault anything else.

The receptionist on our check out was lovely and very friendly, almost felt like a different hotel. Shame we didn't feel that welcome our arrival.

Not the best upkeep on a hotel -- we speculated that they keep the rooms and halls so dark so that we didn't see the wear-and-tear and suboptimal cleaning. But it was the service that made me say "why doesn't Malmaison chain make this place pull up its bootstraps?". Whatever that means. We chose this Malmaison as we'd so enjoyed the one in Oxford, but the service in Liverpool defied the average description of "clueless".

First we were told that taxis won't wait even a minute for you if you called and weren't waiting when they arrived and that " we don't control the taxi company". And I would accept this if the first night our driver hadn't told us that the receptionist DIRECTED him to pick up someone else waiting (he didn't) and if the second night the reception hadn't forgotten we had a booking altogether, looking at us as blank as a piece of printer paper when I asked if the taxi was there despite booking it with the exact same receptionist less than 2hrs beforehand.

Malmaison Liverpool has also entered my "first" annals by being the first hotel I've graced that can't mail anything for you. I've had lesser-cost hotels bend over backwards to mail an intercontinental piece of art but the Malmaison can't manage a postcard (or even fathom the suggestion that the post be simply franked as their post "goes automatically"). Many, many businesses would like to know more of this unstamped, unfranked postal system of which you speak.

In short, with so many choices in such a tight area -- stay somewhere else.

We throughly enjoyed our stay here , from checking in to checking out every staff member we saw was polite , friendly and very helpful .... we stayed for 1 night for our anniversary with the wine and dine offer and at £99 its was excellent value for money . The room was amazing , spacious and very clean , i was a little worried at first as we was over looking a busy road but there was no traffic noise at all , it was just perfect . We both throughly enjoyed our meal to , the food was lovely the menus offered plenty of choice and the waiters/waitresses where all very friendly and helpful . The location of the hotel is great to being only a short walk into the centre of liverpool and to the docks . We will definitely be returning here in the future .

I had a fabulous stay in this hotel the staff decor food and rooms are top class, very friendly staff very helpful in every part of the hotel. The room wants very clean and beautifully decorated, the bed was fab big and very comfortable, the bathroom is wonderful, walk in shower and a huge bath. The restaurant menu is class , food was fab and the waitress Rachel could do enough for us, I will defo be back next time I visit Liverpool

Myself and my wife booked one night stay through lastminute.com and we were impressed by the quirky stylishness of the hotel. The staff were very polite and attentive. Good location at the docks and only a few minutes walk to the city centre. I would definitely recommend it and will probably try other Malmaison hotels on the back of this stay.

Stayed at the hotel on Thursday the 14th August 2014.
Room 334 had a partial view of the river. The decor of the room was excellent and very modern. The hotel is well situated for a short walk into the city centre. Stays during the week are quieter.
