“Its Very Good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2010

Stayed for the weekend .
Very happy with the B&B price from the reservations line .
Booked a river view room .........could have been good but the cruise ship blocked the view !

restaurant ...........very attentive on Friday, thanks mainly to Brian ( big thankyou Brian) Not so on Saturday night when the female was not in the least interested .same applied to Sunday breakfast
The menu is somewhat limited , but they do stay open late .
Breakfasts .Superb.
Reception staff very helpful .
Downside ...parking is expensive .
A good weekend was had by all thanks to the hotel & its staff.

My wife and I recently stayed overnight, and had an excelent time but this was helped by he fact that we only paid £55.00 for both of us bed and breakfast. The main reason for our stay was to have a night out in Liverpool. We started off with dinner in the James Monroe which was excellent value, and then went to a number of pubs. The hotel is the perfect location for the Liverpool nightlife, and to visit a lot of the attractions such as Albert Dock, Liverpool 1 (shops), both football teams, and the theatres.
For breakfast we both opted for the 'Big Mal' which was very nice but not so large and would fit on a decent size sandwich.
However our visit was slightly marred by the fact that soon after our return we recieved a bill for items from the mini bar which we hadn't had. We called the hotel and immidiately informed them that we had not had these items, and infact could not get the mini bar open. The hotel accepted this (with very little arguement?) and refunded the money taken.

We stayed at here for a stop over before catching an early ferry. The hotel looked lovely, it was clean, warming atmosphere, modern, room and public areas were ideal for a romantic evening, but the staff were cold, unfriendly, not helpful, and if I saw anyone smile I would have been amazed. On the morning we left and after passing maids, waitresses and various other on duty staff the only person to actually say good morning was the receptionsit, but she didn't smile as she said it.

Improve the friendliness and it would be a great hotel.

I surprised my partner with a stay here for his birthday last year. I think I got a really good deal where I got the room for £10 if I spent £75 in the restaurant, which unfortunately I don't think they do any more. I went in thinking not to expect much but was really pleasantly surprised.
The reception staff are warm and welcoming, and not like the cold greetings you get when staying in a lot of modern hotels in England. The reception décor is dark but modern and inviting.
Our room was huge, and had one of the biggest beds I've ever slept in. The jacuzzi bath was large and deep, and the walk in shower was lovely and gave out a very outdoors feel. The rooms are very modern and minimalistic, but very well decorated and appointment which a large flat screen TV and big windows looking onto the docks.
We had a cocktail in the bar before our meal, the bar area was dark and trendy and we were surprised with a few complimentary bar snacks.
The restaurant is a bistro style with open kitchen, and our meals were both really enjoyable, the only downside was my pork chop was a little dry. The sommelier was lovely, bubbly and really knew her stuff.
We both really enjoyed our stay here at the Malmasion, the staff were lovely, rooms were comfortable and the only downside was I had to work the next day here.
Consider the Malmasion for your next romantic weekend getaway.

this is a lovely hotel - the staff (especially Dean on front desk) were very helpful and the room was finished to an extremely high standard. we were a fifteen minute walk into town and the views of the river were a bonus! there is building work going on from mon-fri so we were lucky to miss this.
the car park is extremely secure - park up in the layby next to hotel, inform front desk and you'll receive ticket (£15 will then be added to ur bill) to get in.
although we didn't have time to fully enjoy the bar or restaurant, the menu looked lovely and we'll definitely be sampling it next time!

Our stay at the Malmaison Liverpool was a real disappointment. Having booked in here for a holiday weekend and paying the supplement for a river view room we were surprised to discover on arrival that the entire hotel is covered by scaffolding!
On check in we were offered no help with our bags. On arriving in the room we noticed that the shower had not been cleaned properly as there remained soap residue splattered on the shower tiles. No hand towel or face flannel provided in our bathroom. The heated towel rail did not work. Our room contained 2 glasses and a corkscrew however there was no wine. The tea making facilities provided only one serving of biscuits, in a double room. I emailed an enquiry to reception at Liverpool which went unanswered, and which remains unanswered now. Malmaison parking in the third party garage nearby cost £5 per day more than the car park immediately adjacent which I think is hard to justify. In the evening when we asked for a table for dinner at 2105 we were told no, last orders had been taken at 2100 rather than 2130 as advertised on their website.

All in all our stay in this hotel falls far short of a 4 star service. We had a most disappointing stay given that previous encounters at Malmaison Glasgow and Manchester have both been good. I would not recommend this hotel to others based on this experience.
