“A gem in the heart of the city”
Reviewed 24 May 2010

just returned from our stay in 62 Castle street, the hotel itself is gorgeous, we were in room 301, it was huge with a huge bathroom, plenty of towels in the bathroom, his in hers robes, elemis products, well stacked tea/coffee tray and air conditioning which was really helpful as it was the hottest day of the year yesterday, we also met the lovely ken who knocked with some hot chocolate for us, really nice guy and a credit to the hotel, i even mentioned to him other reviews on here that name him and he was surprised, this hotel is right in the middle of everything, there is a lovely italian restaurant opposite, couple of minutes walk to all the shops and albert dock, liverpool one. its a great location for anyone visiting the city, i can say that as im from this amazing city and have stayed in hotels a lot,this is by far the best ive stayed in and will definately be going there again.

Spent 4 nights at the hotel 42 Castle Street, Liverpool. What a superb location for all the main attractions Liverpool has to offer, eg Liverpool One shopping centre/restaurants, Albert Docks, ferry terminal for Mersey trips, train station just round the corner, Cavern Club etc. Staff were really friendly and the food was excellent. Our only slight criticism would be that our room was exceptionally hot. We were offered a fan when we mentioned this but in the end got used to it and left the windows wide open all night, which meant that we had a little more noise. Also, apart from a handful of coat hangers there is nowhere to store your clothes. We ended up leaving ours in the suitcases and only hanging up a few items. These two little things though would not put us off staying at 62 Castle Street again and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great so long as you don't need to actually sleep at night. We were warned the restaurant would be closed for a private function which was no hardship having read the reviews but we were not warned it would be impossible to sleep because of furniture shaking (really!) level of music from party.

Read some of the reviews beforehand and felt apprehensive about it. But as soon as we walked in lall those fears disappeared. Was welcomed by the very lovely Claire on reception desk. who could not do enough for us. The location of the hotel is brilliant within walking distance of most things and transport connections were great. Our room was great. Would recommend to everyone to go

As frequent visitors to liverpool we often stay at another hotel which was busy this w/e. We booked castle St 16th April and were not dissapointed. Stayed in a "double wet room", I think it was called this. Very large room, comfy bed, couple of steps down to great seating area with large flat screen tv, sound system etc. Great views over the courts square. No problems with noise in the hotel...very quiet, some street noise but you are in the middle of a city! Well designed room, contemporary with subtle lighting, bit dark in places...near tea/coffee tray, but this was not a major problem. However the tray had a great selection of coffee/tea and lovely biscuits. Bottled water and mints as little extra's...nice touch. Massive full length mirror. Bathroom lovely ...large, and in contrast nice and light...just what you need in the bathroom. Gorgeous Elemis products, lots of fluffy towels, bathrobes. High standard of cleanliness.
Reception staff all very nice, and we saw about 3...all pleasant and helpful especially when we requested another night stay in the same room...very accommodating. Didn't eat breakfast due to being late risers but went in the bar at night for drinks...beautiful bar area, nice cocktails. Would definately stay here again...very reasonably priced room, can't remember exactly but less than £130 for 1 night, which for the room we had, was very good. No problems whatsoever with our stay...I guess it all depends what you are looking for, some people get niggled by very minor, aesthetics, but we cannot fault this lovely boutique hotel.

Lovely hotel, amazing cocktails and fantastic location.

Room was lovely - couple of grips;
- light on air conditioning was ridiculously bright and we had to turn off aircon in order to sleep!
- windows could do with being double glazed and although curtains where thick they didn't quite meet in one place and let in loads of light in the morning
- the shower head is brilliant - if you are under 5ft 5!!!!

We got a really good deal - however if we'd been paying the £240 rack rate - I wouldn't be so impressed!

we were very very impressed with this hotel the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was fab - immaculately clean and the little touches were very much appreciated i.e. little bottles of water and lovely filter coffee. Bed and pillows were lovely, very luxurious. we cant comment on the food as we didnt have anything there.
