“The last surviving sailor's pub on Liverpool's dockside”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 January 2012

A short stumble from the main centre, this iconic pub, the last surviving sailor's pub on Liverpool's dockside. Not just a slice of Liverpool history, the Baltic is also a brew-pub renowned for its own Wapping beers. I tried a pint of their fresh, citrussy ale, with breakfast (£5.95), and my partner had a bowl of local favourite, scouse (£3.95), and everything soon seem right with the world. I understand Fydles (fydles.co.uk), provide the produce for the Baltic's food. Simply delicious!

“Local Trivia Night Was a Blast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 December 2011

Enjoyed the local brew and bowl of scouse! Was there for a round of Tuesday Night Trivia. My team finished second...we all shared many laughs and had a good time!

“Great pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 December 2011

Don't be put off by the outside (although I think this adds to the charm - try and imagine this place not next to a busy road, but next to a busy port) as this is a great little place. Once inside it's bright and airy with lots of old pictures on the wall. A lovely row of gleaming handpumps greet you in the front room - with the majority of the beers being brewed on the premises (in the cellar) or from local breweries.

The back room has got some dining tables where you can sit and eat a homemade meat pie, or some of their excellent "scouse" stew.

This is how a pub should be - full of charm, character and histroy. Apparently there is a secret tunnel from the mens toilets to the docks - in the days when pressgangs used to frequent the pub on the hunt for potential sailors.

Excellent!

“In need of a good clean”

Not bad for the beer but can't comment on food. Overall the pub needs a good clean, better real ale pubs in Liverpool.
