We saw good write-ups in the local tourist brochures and decided to try it out after our morning visit to the Beatles' childhood homes. There were basic food offerings chalked on a blackboard and we would have had the cheap (but hopefully cheerful) local dish of "(lob-)scouse", but they had just sold the last couple of portions, so we went on elsewhere for food after enjoying a couple of pints of their excellent beer, brewed on the premises - stout and bitter, both superb. The pub (not sure why this is under the heading of a restaurant) was fairly chilly that day and seemed to be undergoing some (much needed) re-decoration.
