“A taste of Kerala in the backwaters of Liverpool”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2013

A couple of years back, having just spent a holiday in Kerala we were really excited to find a restaurant cooking really authentic Southern Indian food. It didn't disappoint. Food was amazing with wonderful flavours. Thought we'd died and gone to heaven! We've been back since and it just seems to get better. Can't remember the names of the dishes but can recommend a very delicious aubergine starter and fried fish starter. We then had a chicken curry and dhal curry - both very tasty. Get some poppadums too as the dips are amazing! The restaurant is not grandiose from the outside by any means but get yourselves in there for a 'real' taste of India.

“Delicious food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2013

We found it while on a family vacation to Liverpool in 2009. It's v close to lime street station n just behind empire theatre hence is convenient to go in. Ambience is pleasant and so are the staff. It serves southindian cuisine. We ordered masala dosa n it was just too good. Since then every time we go to Liverpool we go there n order masala dosa . Over the years the quality n taste have not deteriorated at all n I highly recommend it .

“Absolutely delicious food and authentic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 March 2013

We used this restaurant whilst in Liverpool. The restaurant is near to the Liverpool Lime Street station and well presented. We love authentic South Indian food, especially Biriyani, and decided to go for a Chicken Biriyani ( you can ask them to flavour it up more if you want to !). In 20 minutes, the most delicious and fragrant biriyani were in front of us. The chicken pieces were succelent, not overcooked and the accompaniments were tasty too. Nothing to complain about. Absolutey delicious..Kudos to Chef and and the Manager Sonny. You shouldnt miss this place if you are an ardent lover of Indian food.

“Amazing Meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2013

Heard about the Maharaga from a friend had one of the best meals ever I am a massive curry lover and usually my motto is the hotter the better, However after tasting the Mysoor Chilli Chicken this has changed the flavours were beautiful and delicate the service was excellent a little pricey however this is reflected in the quality of the food

“Wonderful food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2013

Ate here with a colleague this week whilst staying at The Liner (see my review on this great hotel). The service was top notch, very friendly, welcoming, nothing too much trouble. Food excellent, I had Kerala Bonda to start while my colleague had Onion Bhaji. I then had Nadan Chicken Curry whilst my colleague had Chicken Tikka Masala. We both had Pilau rice, my colleague ha a nan (which I had a piece of as it was huge) and we had Aloo Jeera as a side dish. The flavours were wonderful, very fresh and deep. The portion sizes were generous and everything was very enoyable. The only shame was that you were not able to order any of the vegetable main courses as side dishes which meant a very small set of options (3 plus a side salad). Please could this be changed???

Other than this everything was excellent and I would happily go back and I heartily recommend this restaurant..
