“Lovely restaurant!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2012 via mobile

Great food (my fillet steak was amazing!) and very good value for money. An absolutely lovely little restaurant, with a very interesting history to match.

“Stepping back in time and it is great!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2012

We were trying to decide on somewhere to go with friends who had left the choice for us and wanted something different, we drew up a list and had to include Jack's Place, they decided against it as more fine dining fans but as it had come into our minds again we went the following Saturday night. Nothing really had changed in 2 years but then the decor is 1970s/80s so no surprise there! only that the toilets are downstairs and of course up to date. As said before althought the decor is dated it is very interesting and steeped in memorabilia. On the night we visited Jack's daughter, her husband and their daughter were working and it was like being invited into their home they were so hospitable, it was very quiet too which is a pity. My husband thinks the T Bone steak is amazing and cannot be beaten anywhere in size, quality or price in London. If you want excellent quality, well cooked food, Jack's Place ticks all the boxes, if you want pretty food in miniscule portions that you pay the earth for surrounded by style over substance decor then it won't be.

“Timeless”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2012

I cannot count the number of times I have been to Jack's Place over the last 40 years and in that time nothing must has changed. I say this as a good thing. If it's not broke then don't try and fix it. My most recent visit was on Mothers day. The decor has changed very slightly but still retains the homely feel that makes this restaurant so unique. it feels more like you are going around to family for dinner rather than to a eatery. Something that the numerous bland chain restaurants lack. I don't think the menu has changed over the years either. True home cooked British cuisine. Make sure you are hungry when you go as the portions are generous.

“A gem of a place, family run, good food and intriguing stories”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2012

Excellent steaks (quantity and quality) in the most interesting surroundings which are based on the family's history as well as their contact with celebrity. We could have talked to the granddaughter of the original proprietor for ages. The stories really are worth making the trip although you'll struggle to find a better quality steak in London. Also do top quality dover sole if you don't fancy a steak.
