“Poor quality food and small portions”
Reviewed 19 April 2013

The food quality was not good, but fortunately the portions were also small so we didn't suffer too much. We all ordered drinks (martini, gin and tonic, vodka on the rocks), and they brought us each an ounce of spirits, for about 4 quid.

“Standard food at a standard Indian restaurant”
Reviewed 28 February 2013

If you decide to visit this restaurant, there will be no surprises in the food on offer - it's standard London curry house fare, nothing special, nothing unusual, nothing out-of-the-ordinary. The menu has all the standard favourites, so I won't repeat it here; I started with the usual poppadoms with pickles and relishes, followed by a vegetable samosa, then prawn bhuna, sag aloo and a garlic naan. Everything was perfectly edible, but there was nothing to raise it from the ordinary, and the garlic naan was a little disappointing - small and flat rather than puffed-up with crisp edges.

Service is ok, again (sorry to repeat myself) nothing special, and prices are fair for what's on offer and the location. The restaurant is small, reasonably cosy, and no offensive decor, which is a plus; the usual background music was playing.

Overall, a perfectly acceptable and average experience if you happen to be passing, but I wouldn't make a special journey.

“Average Indian restaurant..... better choices nearby”
Reviewed 3 February 2013

The food was ok. But just ok. the service was unprofessional, short, but efficient. Not sure how this place survives with so many better choices around. But I suppose it's due to the tourists who tend to go to places they as they walk by. The prices are a bit high for what you get. Skip this place, find something better.

“Worst treatment ever”
Reviewed 1 December 2012

To start with this restaurant's run by Bengali people, it's not run by Indians as Indians are very nice people and helpful. We were served food by throwing everything on the table in a rude manner. Secondly their was hair found in the chutney and we brought this up to one of the waiters and he told us this is all they had. Also we requested for a shrimp curry and we were served raw shrimps in a tomato curry and when we told them that this is not good, the waiter told us this is what u requested, which is not true as this was recommended by the guy taking the order. Finally we stated the bill didn't look right, the bill was high for 3main dishes and 2 starters and the bill was not itemised therefore we didn't know what we were charged for and we realised we were over charged around 8 pounds for service charge and we agreed to pay although it's above the standard for 4 ppl with 3 main dishes. When we paid we left a tip of 2 pounds which was more than generous for the service provided in the rude manner and expensive service charge. When we got up to leave one of the Bengali waiters came over and he was shoving the 2 pounds in my face asking me to take it back coz they don't need it. This is a first and it's appalling by any standard. Therefore I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone as khan of Kensington is way better and there are many better Indian restaurants around with better food and genuine waiters.
