“Decent but nothing special”
Reviewed 24 February 2013

We visited on a Sunday evening. The place is quite large but was almost empty so not much of an atmosphere. After we were were seated and noticed that some of the menus showed different items than the others which seemed a bit odd.

The food was served fairly quickly, but our shared starter had been completely missed. Draught beer choice was pretty limited and the Guinness was off.

Service overall was a bit poor. We'd probably have ordered another round of beers if anyone bothered to ask. No sign of any staff when we wanted to the bill so had to ask for it at the bar, and then go back up again to pay it.

The burgers are decent and the portions are good. Not the best burger I've had, but pretty good. Prices are reasonable (£7 - £9) and there's a 2-for-1 TasteCard offer which brings the bill down even more.

The Grand Union seemed like a pretty cool place a few years ago but seems to have lost its way. There's lots of other good burger places which do a better job.

“Nice boozer”

Great beer and good outdoor space on the canal for warm summer evenings, but you need to get there early for a spot!

“Quirky!”
Reviewed 22 October 2012

We needed somewhere local to the IWM, just for a pub lunch. Liked the look of the web-site images, and the place didn't disappoint. We like "quirky" pubs and restaurants, and the eclectic furnishings and fittings were great.

The food was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. Not too pricey either, which is always a bonus in London.

It was very quiet (late lunch), so can't really comment on atmosphere etc, hence the average scores

“Nice Restaurant”
Reviewed 2 May 2012

It was lunchtime and on a whim, I decided to try this restaurant. Its a comfortable place across from the Camden Road train station and has a nice menu. I had a chicken veggie stack which was very tasty and nicely plated. I tried the Eton Mess, which is a concoction of whipped cream, raspberry juice (to make the whipped cream pink) and crushed shortbread cookies mixed in, served in a parfait glass and topped with raspberries - very pretty and too large to finish, and quite good. This restaurant surprized me....I will go back again.
