Description: "Khan's of Kensington has developed a core of devotees over the years, from household names to lesser mortals, who delight in its slightly modern take on North Indian cuisine. The colonial ambience is very relaxed, pleasant, and its bijou dining room has an intimate feel. Some favourites -- among many -- are the fish Coliwada, which is fried marinated pomfret fish from Bombay, and the Officer's Chop of lamb in honey sauce. The tandooris and baltis are very popular, and if by chance you don't find your favourite on the menu, the kitchen are happy to set that right, too. Lounge bar on the lower level, charming atmosphere throughout. "

A very commercial place , they were expecting a very pig party, did not advise us until we sat down, and wondered why were crammed in a table far away for 4 people ,then suddenly we were told that, over 40 customer were arriving for a party , when we had the starters which were OK, the party then arrived, so very load so noisy, it made eating our main course unbearable to enjoy, the staff did not bother to ask the party to be less noisy, they were only interested in serving them with drinks.....
As far as the food, the chicken, korma, and chicken tikka massala , were so unbelievably thick in cream , it was like eating a pudding, hardly ant chicken, full of a creamy thick sauce , The kebabs were moist and fresh,as that was the only thing worth eating, one of the Dal lentils was tasteless, in any case we couldn't wait to leave.
party or no party there are better curry houses in South Kensington then Khans.

After a long, cold day touring the sites of London on foot we were craving something warm and hearty to fill our empty stomachs. We found Khan's of Kensington just across the road from the South Kensington tube station.
A lovely little restaurant that was packed (always a good sign). White table cloths and a nice bright decor set a lovely first impression. We were greeted with a smile and shown immediately to a table for two. We were presented with popadoms and some fantastic dips to accompany. I had the murg tika masala and my partner had aloo gobi, we shared a garlic naan bread and pilau rice. The food was absolutely fantastic!! It was hot and tasty! The meat was lean and moist and both curry sauces were packed full of flavour and spice, without being overpowering. The naan bread was crispy and light and the fried shallots on the rice were to die for. The price was a bit steep compared to what we are used to paying but then you are in Kensington and when the food and service are this good I did not object in the slightest. All in all a fantastic meal, served by staff that could not do enough for you. Would highly recommend!

Lovers of Indian Food will know that there are so many different types of cuisine available in Indian Restaurants all around the world.

I grew up with great Indian Food in Birmingham - so I like intense spicy flavors. This restaurant was a big disappointment. We shared two starters, one side and two curries. We found all of it very bland and more like a stew/casserole than a curry. One of the curries was signaled as hot on the menu.

Service was pleasant.

We won't return.

Our last night of a long 30 day trip we where recommended this place by a local. We where helped by the manat said he was not the owner but sure took pride in his place we had 2 appetizers one shrimp one chicken both tasty. We had a green curry with chicken a lentil based dish with rice and a lamb tomato spicy dish. My whole meal was good and flavorful the naan baked on site. Service was good I would recommend if you are in the area to stop and enjoy the food
