An old pub that has done well with the neighbours. I've been there for drinks to meet friends and have come to enjoy the tapas.

Been there twice recently. The selection of beer is a little shy, but some of the tapas were very good, and worth trying. Also had a hot meal that was pretty decent for a pub. My opinion is that this is a good option if you're based in a hotel around the spot.

In context: this review is for a booking for a party of 40. Diners in smaller groups may have a different experience.

The pub itself is very well preserved Victorian street-corner pub. The bar is very unaffected and I can imagine happily settling in for an evening. The beer range is a tad disappointing. Sharp's Cornish ales are so ubiquitous in London these days that something different would be welcome.

The dining room upstairs was very nicely set out for our group, and the bread and oil that we started with was very good.

Unfortunately we had 1-2 people looking after a very large group. I'm not sure what the problem was, but our reservation was 7pm and we didn't actually get our first course until almost 8:30. This seriously detracted from the evening.

The food itself was very good. The Guinea Fowl breast that I had was very tasty. There was a comment that the Toulouse Sausages were "not very Toulousian", but still very nice, and apparently the accompanying Puy Lentils were excellent.

Desserts were simple, sensibly sized, and all the better for it. Unfortunately a few of our group had to leave to catch trains so they missed out.

All told, I'll come again in a smaller group. Unfortunately the service was so slow that 3 stars is a charitable rating.

The environment is interesting, the staff were very friendly and chatty. The food was average, we chose t order tapas as there were five of us eating. The taste was ok, nothing to write home about!
