This is a great pub. It's got a lovely outside seating area, which is bathed in sun throughout those brilliant summer days. There's a good range of beers and they make a killer Bloody Mary. I would love to give this place five stars but I just can't because of the food. Sometimes it's good, in fact sometimes it's great, if you get lucky with the specials. However, the problem is with the main menu. It hasn't changed in years, is limited and rather boring, plus the dishes aren't really good for what they are. Also, there are times when the special dishes come out and they're just no good. Most recently I had the duck, which tasted like it had been deep fried and then left on the side for most of the day before being served up on my plate.
You should go here because it's a lovely pub and you might get lucky with the food - sometimes it really is really good. But it would be way better if you should go here because it's just brilliant, as it could be. A little frustrating but a cold beer in the sun on the benches out front helps make things better.
