“Great for one night in London.”
Reviewed 31 August 2014 via mobile

Booked this hotel at the last minute. Really good location in Bloomsbury, close to Russell Square tube. Staff are exceptionally friendly, room was fantastic - modern, clean, with very comfortable bed! Breakfast was good - couldn't have asked for better for the price. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend!

Just returned from a 2 night stay. Hotel is within easy walking distance of all the main visitor sightseeing places in London. Room was a basement one which although not massive was ideal as a base. Hotel staff could not be more helpful which for me is what makes a good hotel. Would certainly stay again

This is a tough review to write. I think The Beauchamp could be a really nice hotel and great experience... I just didn't quite have that and it was really due to a lot of little things that added up into an unpleasant stay. I will say, though, that the service was very good, and we enjoyed the English breakfast. I would say the location is just okay - not good, but not bad. It's very close to the trendy Soho neighborhood, which is awesome, and it's really near two tube stations, but it's on a very quiet street off the beaten path. It's about a 5-10 minute walk to a great Soho restaurant, and maybe 15 minutes from the hotel to Trafalger's Square, and probably about 15 minutes to St. Paul's Cathedral. The hotel is really an old townhouse complex turned into a series of boutique hotels and the space is very charming and lovely. It's a bit odd walking through the hallways, though, because you have to walk through several fire doors. It seemed as though there was a fire door for every two rooms. Quite annoying to walk through with suitcases! I have two big complaints. The first would have to be the bed. It was SO short! I am fine sleeping in a full or queen size bed, but this bed was literally too short for me - I am 5'5 and my feet were hanging off of it! My second complaint is that they don't offer free wifi. In a month-long trip across Europe this was the only hotel we encountered that doesn't offer free wifi. To connect my phone, my husband's phone and our tablet to the wifi would have been around 45 pounds each day! It's just ludicrous in this day and age. We had a poor experience with the shower - there is a funky control panel on the wall that you use to turn on the water, then it has another knob for temperature and something else, but it is a huge metal component, and it fell out of the wall onto the shower floor! Thankfully no one was injured, but if one of our feet would have been under that thing it would have done some serious damage. That plus my complaints about the bed and wifi made us a bit unhappy with our stay, but again, I think this hotel has the potential... it's just not quite there.

Hi Alison, I am really pleased you enjoyed our service and English breakfast. I am sorry you felt the bed was short - our beds are standard sizes. Wifi charges are £10 for 24 hours, you are not charged per device. I am very sorry to hear about the maintenance issue relating to the shower and apologise for any inconvenience. We do hope that you will come back again soon.

The room was a decent size for London standards. Nice and decent size . The hotel had a lift which was easy access for luggage. The breakfast buffet was delicious, I really enjoyed the buffet breakfast. Great location, nice and quiet. Good value for money. We would stay there again .

Just returned from a very pleasant theatre break. Got an excellent deal here and was delighted to be upgraded on arrival. Our room was huge, 2 double beds and a very nice seating area. Only disappointed was we weren't staying longer !

This hotel was FABULOUS! The rooms were large and well appointed with comfortable beds (and I'm very fussy on this!). The staff couldn't have been more helpful and were always smiling and friendly. On a really hot weekend in July, the air con worked a treat and was so refreshing. The location was perfect for The British Museum (in fact you can see the domed roof from the garden room windows (we stayed on the second floor)). The roads around Bedford Place would be quite noisy but you turn into Bedford Place and the noise of London disappears. The continental breakfast was more than we were expecting and was regularly refreshed so nothing ever ran out. There wasn't anything I would change or look to improve. My only tip is to always check the hotel website itself for offers. We got the two rooms for £140 cheaper than a comparison site plus the breakfast was included (unlike the comparison site). We will definitely be coming back

Room Tip: Garden rooms have a lovely view
