This cafe is great.
Often busy at lunchtimes but you can book a table. great omlettes, good variety of hot foods and a sandwich/ salad list that can please the fussiest of eaters.
Salt beef baggeuttes or hot lamb baguettes are highly recommended. If you want something a bit more filling go for thier delicious omlettes

Parsnip soup is so delicious we ordered a second one. Tasty fresh salad and delicious tart for dessert. The service was slow so make sure you have time to linger. The owner was the server and he was more interested in talking on the phone than caring for the customers-the only drawback to this otherwise wonderful experience.

Rive Gauche looks attractive, the food (a hot and cold counter) looks delicious, freshly cooked. This is a cafe style establishment where you can eat in or take away; choose from the menu or just browse the spread of great looking food at the two counters.
We were given a table outside, then no one came with menu's. After asking, we were served albeit brusque perhaps because the place was quite busy. Staff were arguing amongst themselves. We had a vegetarian quiche and a very poor bit of salad on the side. The sides of the plate were smothered in balsamic vinegar as decoration, which meant that whenever you ate from your plate your hands were covered in it!
Trying to pay was just hilarious. Queue up at one end, to find that this area only prepare take away orders. There is no designated area obvious to customers where to pay. £18 for a meagre lunch. Shame. I do think that we probably chose the wrong dish as all food did look scrummy.

The food is AMAZING. It loses a star for long lunch queues for takeaway and the impossibility of getting a table unless you reserve a week in advance. Staff can be quite grumpy and unhelpful.
