For over 50 years this restaurant/cafe/coffee bar and hotel has provided excellent food and accomodation at reasonable cost.

We had passed this restaurant many times, and didn't
know what we had been missing-everything from making the reservation earlier this week -to being greeted this evening on entry and the friendly waiter service.
Excellent cooked traditional food, but with some unusual dishes not found in other Italian restaurants. We both shared a very big starter- which was amble - mains again both choose Veal with a beautiful artichoke sauce, again cooked to perfection - vegetables again all perfect and tasty. For desert, chocolate cake with ice cream and apple pie with ice cream - All dishes arrived to tempt the eye and tasted as good as was presented- top marks for presentation.
Service was friendly, professional and unhurried.
We will certainly be returning- to try some of the other tempting dishes.

I was walking to work early on Saturday morning when I saw La Gaffe was open and busy. It turns out their hotel guests were checking out after breakfast. They were very happy to serve me an excellent cappuccino at an outstanding price. I look forward to returning for breakfast or an evening meal.

Was very impressed with La Gaffe the other weekend. Tucked away in a particularly surreally lit & villagey feeling patch in the already surreally lit & villagey feeling Hampstead – La Gaffe was a beautiful, family friendly Italian restaurant which somehow manages to feel both tastefully retro and also surreally fairy tail-esk at the same time.

First things first, let’s talk food - Yes, the food was amazing. The meat and cheese assortment that I had for starters seemed to enhance the wine we were having to precise perfection - the lusciously creamy & satisfying taste of the Ravioli I had was simply put everything you could possibly want from a Ravioli plus much more - all beautifully presented and generously priced.

The staff who waited our table were all naturally friendly and politely social - the manager of the restaurant Pino, clearly a man very proud of his restaurant, also came around to our table to share a few jokes and storeys during the night– it really was an enjoyable experience.

I recommend La Gaffe for a special occasion for the family or for a date – as an additional thought, I can really imagine kids below the age of 10 enjoying the villagey feel/dimly-lit walk up to the restaurant at night, letting their imagination go wild - miss this place at your peril.

The food was amazing I had the special la gaffe pasta and my friends had the same with a bottle of red wine.
