As female I feel comfortable going into the club. This is not often the feeling in a London hotel.
The people on reception and the entrance are very friendly and helpful.
The luggage will be stored without a problem.
The rooms are always clean and fresh.

Stayed here for one night with my partner. The hotel is very nice and clean and the room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the price of drinks etc in the bar didn't break the bank. The location is excellent, especially if you are on a shopping trip to Oxford Street.

However there were one or two concerns. The first was that there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. This seems rather a penny pinching omission. When I wake up the first thing I want to do (well maybe the 2nd!) is have a cup of tea. Not having a the facility to make a drink in your room is shameful - especially given the price of a night's stay. The 2nd concern is the breakfast which was simply over subscribed. We paid for the full English (although nobody checked) and found the buffet style breakfast to be chaotic. Next time we will nip along to the Sainsburys at the end of the road and buy a breakfast sandwich and orange juice to eat in the room in much more sedate and calm surroundings.

On the whole though a very pleasant stay

Room Tip: Take your own kettle/tea/coffee/milk to have a drink in your room

First off, you to be a member, either ex or serving military. The location is perfect, right in the heart of London. Accommodation and facilities are as good as you'd expect in any of the 'posher' London hotels charging 3 times as much. The staff are brilliant, helpful and courteous. Hotel accommodation may be a little 'odd' in some respects, with some areas surprisingly utilitarian and I'd guess that as there are shared bathroom facilities on each floor, some rooms may not be en-suite, but in that case, they'd be even better value ! Certainly all of the public areas are as good as I've seen anywhere costing vastly more. The breakfast has to be one of the best in London, and judging by the way many staff and guests greeted each other with a hug, I can only assume there's a lot of regulars that keep going back.

As a member I have stayed at the VSC on many occasions over a number of years, many times with my wife, and have witnessed all the tremendous improvements that have taken place throughout that time. Without doubt it is just as good, if not better, than any 4 star hotel in the city (and I have stayed in a number of these also). The upgraded rooms are splendid, the bar pleasant, the breakfast buffet outstanding, and the staff are really friendly and obliging.

Room Tip: Try for an inside room, being located alongside Edgware Road can make some of the outside facing roo...

Friendly & knowledgeable staff, clean rooms, good facilities. Wednesday night is curry night - very tasty and great value for central London. We have stayed twice now & unless we win the Lottery will always choose this hotel when visiting London! Most 'tourist' places within easy walking distance e.g. Selfridges, National Gallery, Harrods - or bus if it's raining - I find the Tube a nightmare so we never use it. 10 minute walk from Paddington. Rooms at back can be noisy due to air conditioning units on adjoining roofs - best (quietest) rooms are Centenary Wing overlooking Seymour Street.

Room Tip: Best (quietest) rooms are Centenary Wing overlooking Seymour Street.

I am usually staying over Christmas for a week, the staff particularly the head porter Tony who will do everything to make your stay comfortable, the managers I don't know them all by name particularly Ed and Eunice. All the staff in the dining room who are all too numerous to name and the bar staff. The place is spotless clean and I go there at least once a month for a meal and stay there most Christmases for a week

Room Tip: I know that corner rooms are larger, I do not care for that, I like a room with a shower and facing...

The VSC is now my default when staying in London, rooms good size and clean. Wifi and decent desk allows work to get done. But the club is also quiet at night allowing a decent nights sleep. Outside traffic noise seems very low given the location.

Only grumble is that the towels are rather small
