This has been my pied-a-terre in London for some time and I'm pleased to say that it maintains its reputation. At a time when even a modest single in west London will cost the best part of £100 it offers very good value for money and the breakfasts are a veritable heart attack on a plate, however being so close to the park it's easy to jog off the extra pounds. Rooms in the memorial wing overlooking Edgware Rd can be noisy especially as fire appliances and ambulances use this route as a thoroughfare at all hours, but the location can't be beaten. Not overly military and certainly pretty egalitarian, the rooms vary from basic to relatively Spartan (by international chain standards) but ex-service folk are pretty resilient and there are really not enough disadvantages to knock off a bubble. The bar shuts rather early (my only gripe), but as it accepts ex-military members you more or less know exactly what kind of people you will end up conversing with: and sure enough the rum will soon start flowing along with the dits.

Room Tip: Top floor on Seymour Street are quieter.

This is a central location and incredibly reasonably priced. As an ex-serviceman it is great to know there is somewhere in London to stay without busting the bank. The room was spotless and the facilities were superb. Mess prices in the bar! I shall certainly use it again with family.

This club serves military personnel and ex personnel 7 family and friends. It is excellent value accommodation in central London. It has trully great staff and good bar and restaurant. The rooms are not all that it has to be said - (it is good value though!) - they are kind of Ibis level. So way better than Travelodge for example but still not great. The biggest single criticism I have is that the hall carpets are ALL (water?) stained. Needs sorting. Overall keep up the good work,

VSCMarketing, Manager at Victory Services Club, responded to this review, 3 December 2013
“We are very grateful to read the many positive things which you have written in your review.

I am sure that you will appreciate that as a private Members Club, and not a hotel, we have done everything to minimise membership and room prices to consistently offer great value for money, which we believe we have achieved.

The carpet you mention is in the Centenary Wing only. We have been advised by specialists in the carpet industry that this is Permanent Pile Reversal Shading that can appear in any cut pile carpet. Its occurrence is random and its causes are largely unexplained. It is also commonly referred to as watermarking, pooling, or ‘puddling’. A cut pile carpet that has ‘shaded’ will show areas lighter or darker than the surrounding carpet pile giving the appearance of water damage.

Rather than address the carpet issue in the Centenary Wing, the Club has prioritised its expenditure on refurbishing the bedrooms in the Memorial Wing and by March 2014 this will have been completed.

However, you will be glad to know we now have a plan in place to replace the carpet in the early part of the next Financial Year, subject to the final outturn of the current financial year.

Thank you again for your review. We would like to meet you when you next visit to discuss our other future development plans.”

Kind regards
Mark Field

We stayed here over the half term holiday with our two daughters. We had adjoining rooms with seperate bathrooms. The rooms were really clean and came well equipt with everything we required including tea, coffee, and a huge bowl of fruit.
We did manage to pick up the wireless from our room which we were told may be difficult but there is a lounge down stairs that provides a better wireless connection.
We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food and service was excellent. We had the Sunday roast with generous portion sizes and a good selection of starters and puddings. They were very accommodating to splitting the larger meals for the children to share.
The staff were more then helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
We parked for two days in Qpark and got this half price due to staying at the hotel.

As female I feel comfortable going into the club. This is not often the feeling in a London hotel.
The people on reception and the entrance are very friendly and helpful.
The luggage will be stored without a problem.
The rooms are always clean and fresh.

Stayed here for one night with my partner. The hotel is very nice and clean and the room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the price of drinks etc in the bar didn't break the bank. The location is excellent, especially if you are on a shopping trip to Oxford Street.

However there were one or two concerns. The first was that there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. This seems rather a penny pinching omission. When I wake up the first thing I want to do (well maybe the 2nd!) is have a cup of tea. Not having a the facility to make a drink in your room is shameful - especially given the price of a night's stay. The 2nd concern is the breakfast which was simply over subscribed. We paid for the full English (although nobody checked) and found the buffet style breakfast to be chaotic. Next time we will nip along to the Sainsburys at the end of the road and buy a breakfast sandwich and orange juice to eat in the room in much more sedate and calm surroundings.

On the whole though a very pleasant stay

Room Tip: Take your own kettle/tea/coffee/milk to have a drink in your room
