We stayed here for two nights, in room 703 which afforded a lovely view of the Shard and distant Canary Wharf - i was expecting a view of a wall or something unexciting, so that was incredible. I wasn't expecting much for a budget hotel in zone one but it has clearly been refurbished and the room was excellent on the whole.

Plus points: wonderful location! Ten minute walk from London Bridge, about 2 minutes from Southwark underground and ten minutes from Waterloo. I liked being able to walk across the bridge to Covent Garden in about 20 mins and avoid using public transport.

As I mentioned before, the hotel looked and felt very new, the bed was comfortable, shower was great, etc.

Major minus points were:

The location being by a main rail route to Waterloo which did start very early, scuppering any chance of a lie in - surely the whole point of a holiday. The trains were very loud and one night I was woken by one. Hotel can't really do much about this but nevermind.

Noise travelled fast from corridors and adjacent rooms. Also the water pipes made noise and the bathroom door vibrated so we had to leave it ajar.

Little things like toiletries would be nice. Just a shower gel dispenser would be a huge improvement. There was soap but that was it.

We stayed here for two nights in a very spacious family room. I was pleasantly surprised by the standard of the room it was comfortable, clean and fresh. The breakfast was good, filled us up so we only needed a snack at lunchtime! On the second morning the hot food was 15 minutes late which was a little annoying. It was in a good location, the tube station just a two minute walk away,we walked to the houses of parliament in fifteen minutes and the surrounding area was fairly quiet ,we slept well which can be unusual in a city. We got an excellent rate as we booked well in advance which we intend to do again for next year.

Stayed in this hotel in September 2012, June 2013 and will be visiting again this december 2013. The hotel is excellent, very clean and secure. Southwark underground station is not very far within 3-4 minutes walk and very close to the city centre. The area is rather quiet at night expect from the noise that trains from nearby waterloo train station cause. but this isnt a problem as most rail services are off at night. The rooms are fully refurbished modern and bedding is of excellent quality! recommended value for money absolutely worth it!!!

The staff at the hotel were charming & friendly, making check-in & queries hassle free.

The rooms were clean & well maintained. Beds were comfy & the shower was good!

The location was superb, very close to Southwark Tube & bus routes & an easy walk to the south bank.

Would def book again!

We stayed here on a Sunday night after getting a very good deal, this hotel is very clean, we had a double room and it was lovely the decor was nice. We found the bar prices expensive, we paid for breakfast in the morning and was well worth it. There was a good selection, it's all you can eat and you help yourself to hot and cold drinks. The hotel is close by to the tube station and a bus stop. There is a bus that goes straight to London kings cross which we found very handy and cheaper than the tube on day of departure. Great stay and we would return here!
