We stayed at this location for 4 nights. There were 2 adults and 2 children in a 'Family Room'. Room was located on the 5th floor overlooking the train tracks (not a big deal as we were not there for the view and we did not hear the trains at night) The room was very large and included a Queen Bed, and 2 roll away beds. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the location is great. Unfortunately, now for the negatives. The room was very dirty. Carpets looked and smelled as if they had never been cleaned. The walls were marked and scuffed throughout. There were greasy hand and feet prints on the walls. The bathroom was not fresh and clean and was not cleaned on a daily basis. There was mold on the grout of the tub and along the base boards in the bathroom. In the hallway just outside our room there was a few patches in the ceiling where you can see they had a leak and looks as if mold has formed in those areas. It is very unfortunately about the cleanliness of this hotel, because staff and location were great.

Whilst it is great to hear you found the location was great and the staff provided a great service DestinationsCS, it is truly regrettable to learn of the issues you have raised regarding the cleanliness of the hotel. Our housekeeping staff follow a strict routine when cleaning a room and they are expected to ensure all of our rooms are clean and fresh and up to great standards. We’d like to be able to investigate this and contact you to find a resolution so please could you visit our website and select the Contact Us button to tell us more and when doing so please indicate you have left a TripAdvisor review.

The location of the lodge was perfect for hopping on and off the subway. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. We will stay there for a third, fourth and many other stays if we return to London again.

We stayed here the weekend I was taking part in the 2014 London marathon and were very impressed. Room was a good size. We asked for and were given a quiet room. Very well located to get around the city, 2 minutes from Southwark Underground. Also only 5 minutes from Waterloo East which was great for getting to the start of the marathon on the Sunday. Even more impressive is that they laid breakfast on from 6.00am on the Sunday for the runners instead of the usual 8.00 am. Thats something that I bet a lot of the big expensive hotels didnt do! Breakfast was absolutely fine as well. So all in all excellent value for money

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room although I dont think any are particularly noisy

Brilliant budget family hotel, we stayed here for the London marathon 2014 , we paid extra for early check in which was only £10 but you can leave your bags for a £1 donation to Macmillan , which I thought was a brilliant idea and is what we did on departure day , the rooms were clean spacious and more than adequate for our needs , we had dinner at the hotel on the first night and the food was lovely the bar staff were very friendly and great with the children , breakfast in the mornings is very busy but the dining room is small for such a large hotel , the food was lovely again ,basic but filling ,on marathon Sunday breakfast was serve from 6 am with porridge and everything we needed before a race , the hotel for us was just perfect 1 min from the tube and just so easy to get to and from as we did a lot of flying about , we will defiantly be staying again we found all the staff very welcoming and very accommodating ,a well run hotel that the staff should be very proud of .
Also lovely little Italian restaurant called Carlos right next door we had a fab meal there too on the Saturday night .

Room Tip: Our room was 626 and was perfect for us 2 adults and 2 children
