Nice little budget Travelodge equidistant between Southwark and London Bridge Tubes, the bright and bold Lord Nelson pub is just over the road. Great for access to the South Bank, Big Ben, London Eye, plus fab street food of every type at the fascinating Borough Market. Staff are pleasant and helpful, rooms affordable and clean, smell good. A short walk takes you to the River Front, the Shard, a slightly longer one takes you to St Paul's. A nice little neighbourhood getting regenerated.
The train line runs right past it, others have mentioned that the view isn't fab - but then that's not what you come here for. What it is, however, is a pleasant and comfortable and affordable base from which to have a great time in London and a fair bit of it within walking distance. Staff are good and the restaurant, with a nice view of the street below, serves decent food. A nice and welcoming pub for families called the Charles Dickens is just up the road, neighbourhood broadly safe and getting regenerated.
Been here several times, recommend it and a good base from which to explore the capital.
On Redcross Way not far from here is quite a moving little place and shrine by wasteland that was formerly a pauper graveyard for workhouse children and other workers given licences by the Bishop of Winchester, well worth a visit.
