“Great budget, clean, safe accomodation”
Reviewed 30 March 2011

I stayed for one night as I was in Wembley for a football match, as my train back home would have pushed me beyond midnight. The place is ideally located for the business areas of Marylebone, where I work.

The good bits - hostel was clean and modern look, the impression carried through to the room and showers. The food pricing was good around £6 for a pizza. Beers and cocktails all reasonable cost. The bunk was comfortable but the pillows could have been a bit bigger, they were rather flat so I can double fold them to bring the height a bit. I had no problems with the showers, nice and hot. I was allocated an 8 bed room. I had no problems with the other lodgers. 5 of the bunks were taken.

Location is amazing, Oxford Street, Regents Park all withing walking distance, great portland tube station was 5 mins walk, Sainsburys and Tescos nearby.

The not so good bits - Checkin process took longer than it should have, 4 people in the reception only 1 serving, with the other 3 tapping away on the computers... not sure what they were doing... I kept waiting for at least 10 minutes. Not a great start to be honest, hence why I marked down the service. It's spring time and the room was rather warm even with the window open, noise was a little high as my room faced the street. Double edge sword really. I dread to think how hot it would be in the summer, no visible ventilation system in place.

Warning about the bike store.. at a push you can max fit 4 bikes but that was with some juggling around of handlebars etc.. not a great storage facility, the location is in the basement... again not great as you either had to squeeze bike into the lift or carry it down stairs. If they run out of space, I've been told the bike goes into the staff room. To be honest I get the impression the bike store was an after thought.

Some tips for those who've not stayed in a hostels before, bring the following:
- eyeshades
- earplugs or in-the-ear headphones connected to your mobile, if you wish to use the alarm but not wake others
- use a quiet bag (ie not those crispy noisy bags) for storing your stuff as not to wake others
- flip flops! for showers as the showers often are wet floors.

Overall - I would recommend this place, for a budget accommodation it's much better than the YHA St Paul's I stayed in 2 years ago. Price paid £20.

I have never stayed in a hostel before and thought it exceptional. 2 parents, 4 teens in a 6 bed (3 bunks) room with en-suite. One of the lower bunks slightly wider than the rest, gave it to the 6'4" person. Two pillows each, firm but comfy beds. Street level room a bit noisy, also poorly insulated for sound in the corridors presumably due to lack of carpets.
Low rise shower managed to make bathroom floor completely wet, less pleasant for those last into shower or just needing to use the loo. The staff were very helpful and friendly, reception/recreation area bright and welcoming. Books and games for guests to borrow. Breakfast good value and relaxed. Location could not be better.

The location can't be beat - it's 3-4 short blocks away from TWO underground stations, Great Portland Street (Circle Line, Hammersmith & City Line) and Regent's Park (Bakerloo Line). It's about a 5-8 minute walk down a busy well-lit street to Oxford Circus (Central Line). It's right next to the very post Marylebone neighborhood and just a 10 minute or less tube ride to King's Cross Railway Station. I requested to be in a 4-bed room and for my 2 night stay I ended up not having any roommates. It was like living in a hotel with my own "private" room and en-suite bathroom and shower. There are also showers & toilets in the hallway if you don't want to disturb roommates. Each bed has a mounted touch light and shelf with electrical outlet - optimal for charging cell phones & alarm clocks without disturbing roommates. The lounge can't be beat - cheap imported beers like VB and Leffe, large flat screen TVs, 24 hour snack bar, and lots of people sitting around playing board games or working on their laptops with WiFi.

This a is an excellent hostel, efficient and friendly staff and perfect location, that enabled the family to explore London with a reasonable price tag.

This hostel is really brand new and in a great location (between Euston and Oxford Street, with Great Portland St tube station 5 minutes away).

I stayed in a room with 4 beds (2 bunks), and was delighted that we had our own bathroom as an ensuite, rather than going out in to the hall. Everything was very clean, warm and comfortable. Good laundry facilities as well as luggage storage and kitchen.

Negatives: I noticed the lifts didnt work occasionally, wifi very expensive (3 pounds an hour for using a terminal!), and breakfast was perhaps overpriced, though it was very filling - croissant, jam, cereal, tea/coffee, fruit or yoghurt.

The staff were chatty but not particularly forthcoming with information about the hostel or the area. I found it difficult to meet new people as it is quite large.

This is my second trip to London, and it was nice to stay in a different location near Regents Park and Oxford Street. For first time visitors, however, I would recommend somewhere closer to the Thames. We stayed in a private room with 4 beds (bunks) - with 4 adults, however, there wasn't much room! The room and its bathroom were tiny, and unfortunately there was no shower hob so the bathroom floor was soaked each time we had a shower. Having said this, this was a small issue and the room was excellent value for money. The room and bathroom were super clean and the hostel had a friendly vibe. The staff were lovely and very helpful, and the kitchen/laundry were handy facilities. We had a very enjoyable stay - and would recommend checking out some of the local coffee places nearby! (Kaffeine was excellent). Would also recommend a walk through Regents Park to Camdentown - very cool place. Wifi was 5 pounds per day (or 9 for a week).

We found the rooms to be clean but we had no hot water in the shower and had to use the shower across the hall. When i told staff they didn’t do anything about it and it wasn’t fixed. Apart from that I would recommend to stay because of the location and price is reasonable. Although there was a “membership” charge of £6 each which we still don’t know what it was for but we had no choice and had to pay it.
