Excellent location, 5 mins walk to oxford street. Rooms were very basic, but clean. Hostel itself was lovely, A great mix of people from all over the world to talk to in the lobby, staff were so friendly and helpful. Would definatly recommend this place. Not luxury by any means, but if you want a bed in a clean friendly place this is the one.

The team that worked there were really nice and informative. They took the time to help in any way possible.
The value for a family was a bit expensive, but when taken as a per person rate, reasonable. It would be nice to have a family rate or discount though. we paid $145 a night for 4 people in a private room with 2 bunk beds and in suite bathroom. Towels cost 3.50 pounds. The shared 4 bed family room is small but this is a hostel. It was clean and the toilet area very small but did it's job. Right in the hall there is also another toilet and shower if you need more room. It was very hot when we arrived but they had a fan in the room which helped a bit.
Just around the corner is a grocery store and the Hostel has a great kitchen to eat in and cook your own food to save money. They did offer breakfast for 3.95 pound/person, but we could buy the same food at the store. They have refrigerators available and cubbies to store your food. There is a washer/dryer room and luggage storage.
They have good discounts on the tourist spots and they were very helpful during the weekend closures of the tube and the riots that were happening while there.
WiFi costs either per 20 minutes, per day or per week and the weekly rate is the most reasonable.
The hostel is really well stocked and there were many families there with small and older children. Very good for families!

just returned from 6 nights in london staying in this hostel as a family of 5 we would of had to book 2 hotel rooms instead we stayed in a 6 bedded ensuite room on the 5th floor downstairs on lower ground floor is a kitchen area were you can make meals if you choice on the ground floor is a comfy central area with lots of staff always avail to answer any queries food can be bought here at any time continental breakfast is avail at £3.95 each sandwiches shakes etc are avail throughout the day and pizza etc in the evening with 2 large pizzas and 5 beers costing £20 .There is a slow lift to all floors accessible only with your room swipe card and the whole building feels very safe having stayed in some really noisy yhs many years ago the hostel was full but really quiet at night. Turn left when you leave the building that will take you in 2 to 3 mins to great portland st station, another couple mins to regents park which is lovely to walk through to follow the canal to camden markets .Turn right and 10 mins takes u to oxford street .The hostel has price reductions for most of the attractions and arranged a night to see wizard of oz with good seats at£25 a ticket only downside was it was very hot the first to nights as london basked in 28.c we sweated on the fifth floor even when temp returned to normal the room was still stifling at times air con would have been great a fan was already in the room on our arrival and stayed on the length of our stay .Our kids had their preconcieved ideas of yha life especially our 13 yr old daughter who was quite reluctant but by the end of the wk was a convert and planning her next trip back

It's a decent place but definitely not the best hostel you can find in London. If you are only concerned about security and cleanness, this is the place to stay. You have to go through 3 locked doors to get into your room in this hostel, and they clean your room and the entire hostel daily with its utmost care. That being said, I can say, however, that there are lots of negetive parts. This is an official youth hostel in London. Yes, but it is so with a cold environment and very pricy options.

For example, nothing but a bed sheet is included in the room price, which by the way is kind of too
harsh if you think about lots of other hostels in London that offer free breakfast and a free wifi in the lobby for every guests.

I mean it can be a nice place
to stay if you exactly know what you are paying for, but if you just wholly trust the high rating it has on the website and go for it without any knowledge, chances are, you might get disappointed. I did not enjoy staying here for 5 nights for that very reason. I mean they charge you for the wifi that only works in the lobby... that is just ridiculous in my opinion.

Overall, it's not a bad place but it's not a dreamy, lovely place either just as it seems on this site with its almost 100% ratings. And you know, this hostel is on a bit pricy side, too. If you're not a member
of YHA, you have to pay more. You should keep that in mind because that's not a small amount of money either.

Very nice hostel, clean and quite central. It`s near Oxford Street - about 10 minutes walk to to the Oxford Circus tube station. It`s also quite near Regent`s Park.
The service received was good. I stood in a 6 female dorm ensuite which was very comfortable. I spent three nights in London, I was lucky that on my first night there I was alone in the room. The only inconvenient was that you had to pay extra-money for internet access (either desktop or wi-fi access).
Anyway, great hostel! I recommend it for those who are on a budget trip in London.

Myself, hubby and 2 kids (6 and 3) stayed here in a family ensuite room in July 2011 for 3 nights. We had a secure family room with 2 sets of bunks (kids v impressed!) on the 4th floor to the back of the hostel. The room was small but functional, very clean, very quiet at night and secure with key card access to the room and all other areas of the hostel. The small ensuite bathroom was clean and well maintained. There is a large self catering kitchen in the basement that we used for breakfast with plenty of storage and fridges and we ate in the reception area one night and got huge pizzas and wedges. This is a great budget option for families in London - dont expect a lot of space but perfect for few days family break!

We (a family four) rented a four bed room. The location was good. We were taking the Eurostar (the chunnel), so wanted something close and affordable to St. Pancras station. The hostel was clean and quiet in the evenings. The breakfast was affordable. We felt safe coming and going.

We did have to join some hostel club when we got there, which I think added about a one time $20 fee to the overall cost.
