“Fantastic stay!!!”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

We had a great few days at this brilliant hostel. Spotlessly clean and well maintained, great location and facilities, fantastic atmosphere, lots of info on things to do, organised activities, and above all, very professional friendly staff who were always happy to help. Thanks to everyone at London Central for a brilliant stay, hope to be back soon!

We were a group of 4 friends and stayed in a private quadruple with private bathroom. For this kind a room in London, we found this good solution. Not so expensive and good enough to sleep and rest for 3 nights in London. It had a small bathroom, with shower included in the bunk bed bedroom.

This hostel is in a great part of London, moments from Oxford Street. The staff are friendly, it's very clean, as cheap as chips and the rooms are small bit adequate.

Only improvement would be privacy curtains on the bunks, as with up to 8 people sharing a room, everyone rises at different times. All in all though, a great hostel.

First the positive -location was pretty good. Kitchen was handy. What to watch out for:
- tiny rooms, I was in a four bedder and we were basically tripping over each other -not fun.
- bathroom was tiny with a terrible shower that leaked all over the bathroom floor. It was so tiny you also couldn't avoid the waterstream and involuntarily soaking your hair every night.
- bringing alcohol in is not allowed!
- no free wifi. And when you pay it only works properly on the main floor, no where else.

Overall disappointing!

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and appreciated some of our great hostel facilities; including the fully-equipped self-catering kitchen and our great location.

I am sorry that you experienced some issued with the ensuite bathroom in your room. We are in the process of getting all of the bathrooms updated to ensure that flooding does not occur in the future. Please do get in touch with us next time you come to stay and we can make sure you are allocated into one of the rooms with a new bathroom.

Our WIFI is also free for members of YHA/HI, this one year membership costs either £10 (under 26y.o) or £15 (26y.o and older) and not only gives you unlimited free WIFI but also give you a £3 per night discount on your stay at any YHA.

Thank yo again for taking time to review our hostel and we hope to see you again soon.

The Staff was very helpful and friendly, there's a luggage room available if you check in before 2pm. Also, IF YOU STAY FOR MORE THAN 3 NIGHTS, BECOME A MEMBER! Membership is 10£ and you get 3£ off per night PLUS FREE WIFI!!!! There is also a self catering kitchen available with fridges if you need them, there isn't much food available at the hostel (pizza and that's pretty much it passed 11am), the breakfast is 4.99£ for a croissant, bread, juice, one fruit, cereal and either tea or coffee. I have heard that Oxford Street hostel offers a better breakfast for the same price (eggs, sausages, etc.). The room are quite crowded, we were almost always 8 people in the room which can get quite noisy considering no one wakes up at the same time, whereas the rooms at Oxford are maximum 4 people per room. At night we had to keep the window open because there was no air conditioning and the street was kind of loud, but I got used to it. There are lockers in the room too. There's a grocery store about 3 minutes away by walk and a cheap sandwich store called "Pret" at the corner of Great Portland and New Cavendish. The tube station Oxford Circus is about 7 minutes away by walk and then its about 10 minutes by tube to get to Westminster. There's only two showers per floor so sometimes you have to wait and if you shower after 10-11 (am or pm) the shower might be cold, but otherwise it's fine. The hostel also offers discount tickets for many attractions too, the Jet Boat activity was pretty cool and you get to meet people from other hostels in the YHA. There's also a free walking tour of London offered everyday. Overall, the hostel was very clean, they lack air conditioning and the room have lots of people, but I do recommend it :) Have a nice trip

HI Rachel,

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. At London Central we really pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and great deals we can offer our guests and I'm glad you got a chance to experience these; especially Jet Boat Friday and the free members WIFI.

You mentioned that we only have 2 showers per floor, this is becuase every room except 2 on each floor have ensuite bathrooms. Meanign that these showers are only used by 2 rooms. I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to stay in one of these smaller, ensuite rooms; however, if you come back to stay with us please send a request to be in one of these rooms and we will do our best to allocate you in one :)

Thank you again for leaving us such a thoughtful and complimentary review and we hope you can come and stay with us again soon.

I've stayed at 1) YHA London Central 2) YHA Oxford Street and 3) YHA Earls Court. I think this hostel is the best of those three YHA hostels. It is slightly better than YHA Oxford Street because it has an elevator and because it has a larger common room. Location wise, it is also very close to Oxford Street. I stayed in two separate 6 bed dorm rooms. The rooms get very stuffy. On one night, I stayed in a dorm-style room with windows, and it was still very hot and stuffy at night, even though it was cold outside. On the second night, I stayed in a room with no windows, but it had air-conditioning/ which was much better than the room with windows and no air-conditioning. Overall, the hostel is clean and the staff are friendly.

Hey Carl!

Thank you for such an amazing review, we are so happy to hear that you rate us as the Best YHA in London - a very big compliment!

I'm sorry you found the dorm room a bit stuffy one night, we do have fans in all the rooms to help with this; but it also sounds like you came at an amazing time of year - sunny and warm London cannot be beaten :)

Thank you again for the great review and hope to see you again soon at the hostel!

This hostel was pretty nice but a bit expensive (but isn't everything in London?). The beds were more comfortable than most. This hostel runs a lot of events and gives out really helpful maps. I really enjoyed the walking tour and the pub crawl. Also, get the nachos from the kitchen. They are amazing and pretty cheap! Great location too.

HI Lena!

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. It sounds like you enjoyed your stay with us and took advatage of our great food and drink served in our 24hour cafe/bar; as well as enjoying the Pub Crawl and Free Walking Tour which leave from our hostel daily.

I'm sorry that you thought the hostel was slightly expensive, however, as you wrote in your review, our location cannot be beaten and we offer many great things at excellent prices which does make the overall stay at the hostel greta value for central London.

Thank you again for the review and we hope to see at you at the hostel again soon.
