“Great base hotel”
Reviewed 31 August 2013

This hotel is a great base for visiting London. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean traffic noise didn't keep me awake but bed was very hard. Could have done with some fruit or yoghurt on the breakfast table as was a little sparse. I would definitely book and stay again. It is worth checking about parking if you don,t book direct with the hotel as I had to pay £20 when I arrived for parking as the site I booked through didn't include parking.

I stayed one night and slept well depsite the traffic noise outside (I would miuch rather have traffice noise than a noisy person in the room next door). I had room 102 which was BIG and en-suite. It had everything that you needed. The decor was in need of updating as the paintowrk was dirty.
The staff were friendly although I was told several times that the rooms in the hotel are excellent value for money and you will not get better in London for the price!!!
Breakfast was poor-adequate. Sliced bread for toast, tea, coffee, juice and cereal.
15 minute walk to tube. I would stay there again but would ask for room 102!!!!

Room Tip: 102 was big (it faced the road so was noisy with a window open). The manager said that this was his...

Got the feeling of being in a home rather than a hotel. There was ivy on the side wall, lichen on the roof, and a certain homely charm to the dining room furniture. Bathroom was spotless, and the staff not intrusive. Airport transfers on request. Wi-fi was reliable and the hotel is within walking distance of conveniences.

Staff really friendly and helpful, will defo stay here again when I get to london.

We can beat the previous traveller for hottest day of the year... 34C. Bloomin' heck!!! Our room was on the second floor and like an oven! We can also agree with him regarding the noise. Deafening at times!! Mind you what do you expect in London? Our room was spotless, comfortable and spacious, with a large window. The bathroom was clean, lots of towels and quite roomy too. Also, we really liked the fact that the fridge was provided. The reception staff were fantastic! Very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was fine though basic, but again the staff were fab. We really liked this hotel and would definitely stay here again .... Maybe when it's a bit cooler.

On the hottest day of the year I was a tad apprehensive as I didn't see air con on the hotel website. So after checking in at the spacious reception area I went to room 202 on the ground floor and on opening the door had my breath taken away by the heat from within. There were tea and coffee making facilities and a decent if small telly, a safe and a fridge and overall the room itself wasn't too bad. Except it was like a furnace, even warmer than outside. Had a quick shower, which was small but adequate and went out for the evening. Came back around 11.30 slightly worse for wear, and then realised there was no way I was going to get any sleep with the room being so uncomfortably hot. It was also a few yards from the Camden Road, with buses and lorries thundering past, so I took the bold move of closing the window, as it didn't seem to make any difference to the temperature. Goodness, it was so hot I half expected someone to come in and baste me in gravy. I got up and went to reception to ask for a fan. They didn't provide them. Strewth! So I went back, soaked a towel in cold water and lay it on my chest, which seemed to help, even with the floodlight outside lighting the room up. Bed was quite comfy though, even if the pillows were wafer thin. Woke up totally dehydrated, went for breakfast and was totally underwhelmed, also by the half dozen or so people sitting on the steps of the annexe smoking, So I had a cup of tea and instead went to Ponti's at Liverpool Street Station for my breakfast before catching the train back to Norwich. Strangely though, if they did a decent breakfast I would probably use this place again, but not in summer. 75 quid? Hmm...

Room Tip: Ask for one away from the main road.
