This hostel is especially compared to other places in London just perfect:
The building is old, but it's still in a great shape, the rooms are clean, there is a sufficient amount of bathrooms around, so you don't have to wait to take a shower! (only "bad" thing is, that the sinks in the bathrooms are small, in a private room you've got your own big sink though!)

The location is great, as you're in the Underground station in about 1-2 minutes
PLUS it's a great place to go for a walk in the evening to see London from the bridges (Millenium bridge is about 200 meters from the hostel)
For those who've never done that before: The view along the river towards the illuminated Tower bridge and the new "Shard" is just amazing!

Before that I tried a lot of hostels in London, but now I'm always returning to yha St. Paul's!

Room Tip: Private rooms are a great offer!

This hostel is in an excellent location with good tube/bus connections to all the sites. The breakfast is ok, a choice of eggs would be good (not just scrambled) and a better quality of sausage. The pizza at the restaurant was suprisingly good. The rooms are ok, very small given the amount of beds in them (we were a family of 4). For those on a budget this place is good value for a short term stay in London.

Very nice hostel, in the center of London. We got a private double room, facing the street. The room had two single beds, so no bunk bed, but at an earlier visit at the hostel we got a bunk bed in a private doubleroom. The madrases were old, and not very comfy.
The toilet and shower need better ventilation, and was not as clean as you would want.
The atmosphere was very nice, and the building is very charming, being the old boy choir school for St. Paul's Cathedral.
Two tube stations very nearby, making getting around the city easy.

Room Tip: Ask for room facing the street. In rooms to the other side, the Cathedral bells is extremely loud.

This is yet another great hostel with great staff. Plenty of loos and separate showers. (It was once a dorm remember) We had a room with two single beds, not bunks, which explains how two very elderly women (80's) could be staying there...so if this good for you, now you know to ask.
It is an historic building and has a comfy sitting room.
There are 3 factors which might deter you from signing up IF such things are important:
1- there is no kitchen for hostelers
2-the cafeteria there is OK (remember to pay at upstairs desk before you order) but it means that school groups will be using the place...their meals take precedence.
3-the bells of St Pauls ring every quarter hour AND the full complement of strokes on the hour. this did not bother us because our room was on the street side, away from St Pauls one night. The other nights we stayed in a room on the St Pauls side: I guess we are heavy sleepers, not bothered. We met people who abandoned their reservation and scooted down to the Earls Court hostel claiming the bells kept them up. So maybe ask for a room on the street side or WEAR EARPLUGS which are de rigour at hostels in any case, right?

The caf coffee and the front desk coffee both are great.

Room Tip: Bring earplugs if church bells keep you up. Room on street side are quieter. Meals could be a probl...

I had to visit an open day in Brick court chambers near Temple in central london. This was the closest hostel. And actually its location is very central. They are good budget hostel for solo people. I stayed here for one night as next day early on Monday I had to get there on time.

The location is excellent with a lot of the attractions within walkable distances. Was there during the winter so was relatively calmer and less busy. I stayed in the dorm for eight. The room was spacious and not too cramped. The beds were very weird as they were bunk beds for three which i had never seen before. The place is decent and the building is quiet old also there are no lifts so dont go there if you have a lot of luggage. The bedding is sparse and the bedsheets are too small for the mattress and its like sleeping on a bare mattress. They should definitely invest in new bed linen. The bathrooms were clean but could use more of them. Do not opt for the breakfast as it was horrible. They should seriously think about renovating the place. Easy on the pocket and the stay was good, stay here especially for the location as it is also very close to tube stations from different lines.

It's like camping but with beds and no tent; That's what one of my kids said.
We stayed in a family room for five of us as we couldn't find a hotel for decent value just for a night.
It's amazing value and location mean I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a budget, room only option.
Was clean and staff helpful.
