“Absolutely fine”
Reviewed 30 March 2014 via mobile

Four of us ate in hear on a Saturday night, restaurant was very quiet (guess this part of town is at weekends?).
Absolutely no issues. Whilst not exceptional, the food was nice enough, portion sizes fine, no issues with service.
A few people came in after us and it started to get a bit busier.
We ate here because it was handy for Blackfriars station and our journey home. Would go back again if I was in the area.

“Good presentable decent food”
Reviewed 20 March 2014 via mobile

Found food taste as usual what you find in most of the other Indian restaurant.only difference the food is very presentable decorated when brought on table. They got decent price express lunch menu. However as with most of the so called Indian restaurants in the UK, serve halal meat which as per me is unethical and cruel for animals.so tried only vegetarian menu

“There are better around”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

Went here on a Friday night with a large group. We had booked.

The food was fine but nothing special and with alcohol it was about £55/head which is a lot. The staff were pretty good, the location is great and the decor is nice, but you can find better food and better value.

“We will never come here again”
Reviewed 25 January 2014

The fact that we were the only people in the entire restaurant on a Saturday night should have warned us that the "Bengal Tiger"s reputation obviously precedes itself.

I visited the Bengal Tiger with my parents as a farewell meal and I'm very sad to say that I was very disappointed with the meal and restaurant.

I am very disappointed in this because my father had visited the restaurant years ago and had told us the food was good.
My father has travelled across india since the 70s and is familiar with authentic indian food.

The "Bengal Tiger" is a pure example of an indian restaurant which has lost its way in the world and has decided to cut corners to save time/money but in doing so now produces sub-standard and overpriced food.
A few examples of this being:
-the chicken curries being made with pre-cooked meat
-the curries tasting un-authentic as if from a jar
-the kulfi's being nothing more than ice-cream moulded into a "kulfi-shape"
-the food coming with lashings of mayonnaise.
-the chicken tikka being tasteless as if the outside was "painted" with a thin layer of spices.

We called the waiter and complained about the chicken tikka and he explained that it was the restaurant's style.

The food is extremely expensive, one portions of chicken tikka costing almost £10. about £1.5 per piece of chicken.

We feel that we were treated like fools.

“Great Indian food”
Reviewed 7 January 2014 via mobile

Great starters and mains with an interesting choice of dishes. The service was good and the restaurant was spacious with good decor. I will be visiting again.
