We stayed here one night last week having made a telephone booking some weeks ago when unable to find anywhere else in the area for a family gathering in Walthamstow. At £49 incuding breakfast for an en-suite double room in London we were unsure of quite what we would find. We had read mixed reviews but didn't see anything awful recently. We were pleasantly surprised overall. We received a warm welcome and were asked to pay on arrival which we thought a little odd. A bit of a trek to our room which was small but clean, good linen and crisp white towels. Great view of the London skyline made up for the lack of space. Bed was noisy but reasonably comfortable and the bathroom was clean with everything pretty much working well. Breakfast was a full english regardless of what you might have wanted and no proper coffee was a disappointment. Plenty of toast and overall very good. On balance it was adequate for a one night stay and probably more suited to budget back packers rather than oldies like us. Not a great nights sleep but great value for money.

Room Tip: We had a room at the rear having read reviews saying it was noisy at the front. As it turned out the...

Stayed for one night at the Alfred Hitchcock. We asked for a quite room at the back as road in front is very busy. The room was small as it was in the eves had a sloping ceiling but saying that it was clean and adequate for our needs.Lovely veiw out of the window.
We also had a bar snack The Rib Combo i think it's called lovely although Chicken Wings were a bit hot but thats just my taste.
Cannot comment on breakfast as we did'nt make it (late night).
Also ample parking at the back.

Room Tip: Room at the back as noisy road at front.

Room was not large, but was pretty cheap and was better than you would imagine for the price. Lots of exposed beams and panelling lent a good atmosphere. Take earplugs; on a main road, but not overly noisy. Food and breakfast was OK, but nothing to write home about. The stand out was the service. Just excellent. Will book again for myself and a colleague.

My husband and I were visiting friends and booked a room. We actually met on a blind date here 7 years ago. We never booked a room then I hasten to add !!! So it was nice to return. As other reviewers have stated, the rooms are clean and warm and the breakfast was enough for us. An iron and ironing board was provided and the bus stop outside. Well happy with that.
The downside was there was no full length mirror in our room and being at the front it was very noisy with the traffic. Next time we will ask for a back room. The staff were very friendly and I don't know how they do it for £49 a night bed and breakfast for two. Lovely jubbley as Del Boy would say !!!

Room Tip: Ask for a back room if you want a bit of peace

The hotel was recommended to me by a friend who lives locally. I was a little concerned that the B&B rate almost seemed too good to be true. Don't bother trying to enquire online - just ring them and speak to them.
There wasn't a huge amount of parking, but luckily I got right outside the front of the hotel. There's no computer checking here - a straightforward paper system works perfectly well! I was greeted by a very pleasant young lady who told me how to get to my room and how the hotel is laid out.
My room was clean and comfortable, Everything worked and there was even tea and coffee making facilities in the room. It was a little well-worn if truth be told, but hey, it was all clean and felt safe.
Breakfast was plentiful and unrushed - no limit on tea/coffee/orange juice and again made to feel very welcome.
Wouldn't hesitate to go back if I need to be in this area again (or need to get into central London).
Great location near to the tube.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front may be a little noisy, but not unbearably so

Found the staff rushed and not welcoming, not sure of my booking etc, rang up the night before and was told that she didn't want payment now as she was too busy. room was ok, basic and clean but very noisy at front of hotel with road noise and under other rooms so could hear everyone moving around upstairs. Found breakfast really limited and not well presented, very help yourself, felt more like staying at a friends- milk out, cheap juice in cartons, only chocolate cereal left half an hour before breakfast finished, not welcomed to breakfast or when checking out there was no one around. Would do for a cheap night close to city ut you get what you pay for and I wouldn't stay again.

Just back from a two day visit to Sir Alfred. Couldn't be happier with the experience. Welcoming atmosphere, clean linen, super breakfast and a very good evening meal. Plenty of secure parking and all within easy reach of the tube and the west end. Epping forest just over the road made this a memorable visit. What is there not to like ?
