This is NOT a great hotel for a week's sightseeing in London. It IS a great hotel for an overnight stay if going to an event nearby. I would have given it 5/5 (based on value for money) except there were a few problems - noisy plumbing for example. The reason for rating it IS the value for money. £49 pounds bed and breakfast for two - and I have eaten worse breakfasts in better class hotels. The room was clean, the shower powerful and the beds comfortable. What more do you need for an overnight stay? Amazing value! We found everyone helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back - less noise.

This is fairly basic but clean and easily reached. The staff are not particularly warm, and the breakfast is adequate. For me the lack of a lift was problematic, and the eccentric access arrangements a little awkward (you enter through another door up another flight of steps with another set of keys. So altogether modified rapture. The visitor is I think simply a statistic rather than a guest.

On my way to London for a retirement party, my wife phoned and said I could stay overnight.
I have stayed at the Alfred Hitchcock before, and on the off chance stopped to see if they had a room. Success! the last one available. Room was fine, with decent size shower. Facing the main road can be noisey, especially on a hot evening with the window open. Only complaint was the bathroom extactor fan was broken, allowing the bathroom to steam up, but no big deal. Hotel provides evening food, but with a wealth of choice of restaurants in Leytonstone High Road, you will be hard pushed not to find somewhere to satisfy your appetite.

We stayed here one night last week having made a telephone booking some weeks ago when unable to find anywhere else in the area for a family gathering in Walthamstow. At £49 incuding breakfast for an en-suite double room in London we were unsure of quite what we would find. We had read mixed reviews but didn't see anything awful recently. We were pleasantly surprised overall. We received a warm welcome and were asked to pay on arrival which we thought a little odd. A bit of a trek to our room which was small but clean, good linen and crisp white towels. Great view of the London skyline made up for the lack of space. Bed was noisy but reasonably comfortable and the bathroom was clean with everything pretty much working well. Breakfast was a full english regardless of what you might have wanted and no proper coffee was a disappointment. Plenty of toast and overall very good. On balance it was adequate for a one night stay and probably more suited to budget back packers rather than oldies like us. Not a great nights sleep but great value for money.

Room Tip: We had a room at the rear having read reviews saying it was noisy at the front. As it turned out the...

Stayed for one night at the Alfred Hitchcock. We asked for a quite room at the back as road in front is very busy. The room was small as it was in the eves had a sloping ceiling but saying that it was clean and adequate for our needs.Lovely veiw out of the window.
We also had a bar snack The Rib Combo i think it's called lovely although Chicken Wings were a bit hot but thats just my taste.
Cannot comment on breakfast as we did'nt make it (late night).
Also ample parking at the back.

Room Tip: Room at the back as noisy road at front.

Room was not large, but was pretty cheap and was better than you would imagine for the price. Lots of exposed beams and panelling lent a good atmosphere. Take earplugs; on a main road, but not overly noisy. Food and breakfast was OK, but nothing to write home about. The stand out was the service. Just excellent. Will book again for myself and a colleague.

My husband and I were visiting friends and booked a room. We actually met on a blind date here 7 years ago. We never booked a room then I hasten to add !!! So it was nice to return. As other reviewers have stated, the rooms are clean and warm and the breakfast was enough for us. An iron and ironing board was provided and the bus stop outside. Well happy with that.
The downside was there was no full length mirror in our room and being at the front it was very noisy with the traffic. Next time we will ask for a back room. The staff were very friendly and I don't know how they do it for £49 a night bed and breakfast for two. Lovely jubbley as Del Boy would say !!!

Room Tip: Ask for a back room if you want a bit of peace
