“Popped in for the football”

Was down in London as a friend was running the marathon and we wanted somewhere to watch the Scottish Cup semi final between Rangers and Dundee United. The staff in the Wellington were very accommodating and changed one of the TVs for us so we could see it. Spent a few hours in here and would recommend the pub as it was very friendly and spacious. The mural on the ceiling of the battle if Waterloo is amazing also

With a warm, friendly welcome, a beautiful historic building and a very high standard of personal service, The Wellington at Waterloo is genuinely one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at. Mine was a booking at short notice prior to a job interview, and I really cannot praise the hotel highly enough. The hotel team were great and really friendly and helpful - my (huge) suitcase was carried up and down to my room for me, for which I was extremely grateful - the breakfast was tasty, and I was able to leave my bags securely at the hotel even after I'd checked out whilst I was at the interview. The hotel has just been refurbished and my room on the top floor (room 9) was very stylish and swish - and a special mention to the wonderful en suite shower too! Great location just a stone's throw from the South Bank, Westminster and The Old Vic (to name just a few), this would be a perfect spot from which to explore London on foot. I'd recommend the Wellington to anyone looking for a characterful, friendly, stylish and reasonably priced place to stay to enjoy their trip to London.

It's a ok hotell, but it is loud outside at night. The rooms are small. And the breakfast was awful.
And if you like shopping, it's far from the main shopping areas. But other then that is was fine, nice bed, tv and hot water. And the wifi was ok. And it is not far from the Big Ben and "the eye"-thing.

The good:

Really clean room
Great shower
Friendly staff
Nice breakfast
Great central London location, right next to tube station
Free WiFi

The bad

Small bed
Room was ludicrously warm. So much so I struggled to sleep the first night. It wasn't so bad once I opened all the windows and the staff gave me a fan
Right next to the train station so there's a lot of noise. Ear plugs are essential

A short notice booking for two nights and we were extremely happy with ALL the facilities it had. Our room (18) was clean, comfortable and although at the front, noise was not at all a problem to us. We stayed on a Thursday and Friday night.

As we walked in, our first impression was that we had made a good choice. The décor and ceiling painting really something to enjoy.

We checked in at the bar/reception and as we were too early for our room, our luggage was stored securely. At this time we were engaged in conversation by a very friendly chap who asked of us and where we were from, why we were there, etc. This turned out to be Mark Leeds, the manager. What a welcoming guy!

After our afternoon doing the local sights, we returned to take our room and were really quite pleased. The earplugs provided didn't get used as it was a nice change for us to hear the all night sounds of London. As we were at the front of the hotel, the train sounds others have reported was not a problem. We wouldn't have complained if we heard them.

Food. Dinner. We had a very well presented dish of scampi and chips and a beautifully cooked steak. Absolutely nothing to find fault with. The chef obviously take pride in his craft.
We ate around 6ish and we did have a wait for a table for two. Anymore then it would be recommended to reserve which the staff are happy to do.

Breakfast. Again a good choice of cereal, juices etc. And a decent range of cooked choices including a vegetarian option. We had the full English one morning and pancakes and bacon the next. Both filling for a days sightseeing.

Even with the on going refurbishment, we cannot find fault.
All in all a great stay.

Mark....we will email you soon to book a further stay, this time with two rooms for the end of April. Look forward to seeing you again and thank you for such a welcome. Hopefully I'll look as smart as the last time!!

Made a booking through email with mark. Who is a true Londoner and gent. It's literally a two minute walk from the hotel to the London eye. Everywhere is accessible by the tube, which is across the road.

A good price in relation to prices in regards for location.

Again mark the manager will accommodate any needs you have. And will have no problem telling where hot spots are.

Overall good food,good price,good Craic.

Regards Ken

Went here for dinner and didn't realise it was part of a chain with The Bear and Staff and possibly most other ye olde London pubs. Food is good, large serves average price of 12 pounds a main. Desserts around 5 pounds. Service is excellent.
