So, this started off fine - not great, just fine. The tube station is nearby and easy to locate. The door to the building is totally nondescript, so it's easy to miss if you don't know what you're looking for. The stairs are a tad steep, and a strange smell hands out in he corridor. But that's fine. You won't be spending much time in it anyway.
Then we got into the flat. We had to search for TP in the bathroom, since it wasn't already on the holder. Then we found wet items still in the washer/dryer. It was just towels and a floor mat, but it made me think that maybe this place wasn't 100% ready for us. Then, when I put my camera on the shelf to charge it and leaned on it briefly, it fell off of the wall. Just BANG! on the ground. I was able to put it back up, but that should've been my second clue that this wasn't a great place. Our third clue was when my husband put his foot up on the bed... and went right through it. We pulled up the mattress and saw that a bed slat was missing, but we didn't think it was that bad, so we went off to our evening plans.
Cut to later that night, when I tried to sit down on the bed... and went right through it! This time we pulled the whole mattress off to find multiple wooden bed slats missing or broken. Overall, four out of twelve were missing on the left side and several on the other side of the frame were splintered. Needless to say, there was no way we could sleep comfortably on that bed, so we pulled the mattress onto the floor, but that was very uncomfortable, so we pulled out the hide-a-bed from the couch and slept on that instead. I think we could've slept in the nearby tube station and been about as comfortable. And I think it would have been about as noisy. In the time we were in the flat (less than 12 hours), no less than 13 sirens went by. The street noises never stopped, and the angry motorists honking and yelling started at about 7:00.
I'd emailed Jaymin at about midnight about the bed and go a reply at about 6:00. There was no apology and no plan. Just a vague comment that he'd "figure something out." Not the exactly reassuring. Given that we'd already spent a mostly sleepless night on a flat board with only the merest, stiffest padding, I was not too happy. Instead, I told Jaymin that we were none too pleased with that and would be looking for alternate accommodations. He suggested we stay on the hide-a-bed, which he's obviously never slept on, or he wouldn't suggest that. I told him we were dropping off the keys in the lockbox and would be out by 9:30. And we were. My husband braved he shower, only to find that the shower knobs stick and the temperature is very difficult to control.
I emailed both the TripAdvisor general help and their specific customer service email explaining the situation. We are hoping for our deposit back and a refund for two nights, as we booked for three.
I would absolutely recommend looking elsewhere and avoiding this place at all costs. I get that we all have to start somewhere, but when Jaymin claimed to not know that the bed was broken, it set off alarm bells that his guy has no idea what's happening in his flat. There was no staying there after that.
The apartment was well located and we were comfortable but the best was its owner who helped us in everything he could.
Had a great stay at Tushar's flat. Really good communication & easy check in. Location is awesome; close to tube, restaurants & Spitalfields market. Flat has everything you need, clean & comfortable. Recommended
We had a great stay in London. The apartment was in a very convenient location - directly in front of the grocery store and very close to the underground. The apartment was clean and comfortable. The lessor was easy to contact and quick to respond. He made sure everything was up to our expectations.
We had a great time while we was there, really nice place, good location, everything was as described, very close to aldgate east station, would like to visit again, Jaymin was a great host.
Jaymin was very easy to contact. He made sure we got settled in the apartment and that everything was good. He was helpful and provided information on how to get around. He answered questions very quickly. The apartment was great. It was clean and comfortable and had everything necessary to make you feel at home. It is in a very convenient location - close to the underground and grocery store, as well as some great restaurants.
