Lobster tortellini to start followed by rib eye beef(guys) and black bass (ladies). The pasta was great. The boys enjoyed the beef - very large portion. Our fish was also cooked very well and tasty. Service was slow in terms of filling glasses etc but the staff were friendly and well mannered.

I took my boyfriend to afternoon tea at the Athenaeum, which kept showing up as one of the better tea spots in London on web searches. It was lovely. We sat in a little alcove, next to big windows, which were in front of a beautiful living (plant-covered) wall, on two very elegant little sofas. The food was delicious. It started with a three-tier stand, with sandwiches, scones, chocolate-dipped strawberries, meringues, cheesecake, and a wonderful kind of champagne jelly. There was clotted cream and homemade jam and lemon curd for the scones. Waiters came by with plates of sandwiches in case we wanted more. There was a nice list of teas, including herbal varieties, and we each had our own pot. Mine was white tea, and they were both excellent. Later on, a waiter brought a cart with a number of kinds of cake, from which we could select as many as we liked.

The setting was lovely, the waiters were excellent, and the food was wonderful. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

My partner and I took my Aunt for a champagne afternoon tea for her 80th Birthday with my Uncle, before heading off to the theatre. The service, afternoon tea and atmosphere were second to none. They have a very extensive tea menu, so something for everyone or you can order coffee instead. The sandwiches were delicious and just kept coming as did the tea and scones, just perfect.

This is by far the best afternoon tea in London and we have tried to book several times since, but we have been able to get a table as they are always fully booked, which is a testament in itself.

We hope to return very soon.

After having visited this place once before, I knew it would be a solid place to book for our first wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. The service was attentive throughout. The food was of an excellent standard, with extra sandwiches offered when we had finished those on the initial serving. The scones were extremely fresh, the cakes were delightful, and the home-made fruit concern and lemon curd were both delicious and the sweet treats where out of this world. We were offered fresh tea half way through our visit, which was very welcome. The Athenaeum does not have a dress code which is very open-minded of them. But I would appeal to you if you are thinking of visiting this place please do make the effort and dress up a little, as jeans really would be out of place here. An incredible afternoon and thoroughly fitting for our very special occasion.

Have been here about 4 times over the last 5 years and was slightly nervous this time after reading some reviews in here about having to pay for extra sandwiches and bad service. Well I shouldn't have worried it was as usual lovely, excellent service - additional sandwiches offered and additional scones, all included in the price. Staff were welcoming and friendly and also knowledgable. I do miss not having the crumpets and toasted tea cakes at the end like they used to but I was stuffed so not a huge issue. Will definately be back again.
