“Best in Richmond”
Review of L'Assaggino

L'Assaggino
Ranked #18,537 of 25,591 Restaurants in London
Price range: US$13 - US$25
Description: A newly established Italian Fresh Pasta Restaurant with traditional values- fresh food, simple ingredients and good wine. We only use fresh, carefully sourced and seasonal ingredients to make all our beautiful, rustic dishes. A convivial atmosphere, great wines, faultless service and a warm heart - are proving a winning formula in a neighbourhood overrun with soulless chains. Find L’assaggino on a quaint cobbled street, a Grade 2 listed building off Richmond Green. Enjoy fresh homemade pasta & authentic Italian cuisine from our Sardinian Chef. Fresh locally produced food with a small frequently changing menu.

I've eaten in almost every restaurant in Richmond and this is THE place to go. Atmosphere and service are second to none, and the food is superb. It's small - which is a big part of the charm - so don't expect a huge wine list or menu, but what you get is delicious and fantastic value. The chef is great and pops out to chat to customers, and all the other staff are delightful too. All in all a lovely place - go!

If visiting Richmond upon Thames and wanna stop for a nice meal , no doubt L'assaggino it's the Italian restaurant for you.
The place is small and cosy with a romantic vintage atmosphere. From the outside you would never think to find such a good quality restaurant with an amazing service.
Since the "discovery", a couple of months ago, I became a regular and introduced the place to family and friends and no one was disappointed.
Manolo, the owner, is an extremely polite & knowledgeable gentleman, he describes the dishes with great passion and he is always there to suggest the right wine to match the food ordered.
The menu is relatively small and simple , however the food quality is excellent from starters to dessert, the service always pleasant and never intrusive ( worth a mention the lovely young waitress Laura, friendly, sweet and professional). In addition they have a good wine selection.
A tiny con after so many deserved pros, the restroom is slightly inaccessible, however I am sure the managers are aware and maybe already working on this.
Overall highly recommended.

This tiny restaurant, full of character & atmosphere, is a hidden gem. The service is fantastic - very attentive and willing to please (thank you Manolo & your team!). The food & wine absolutely delicious - all three courses were amazing and authentic.
Can’t wait to return!

We booked a table for 6 using opentable app and received an email confirmation accepting our booking. Arrived to find that they had overbooked and therefore couldn’t accept us. Claimed that they had tried to call. Later I had to call them to cancel the booking as it was preventing us for booking elsewhere. Manager was rather rude when I explained I felt compelled to leave negative feedback. Reading other reviews, this is clearly not the first occasion when they have treated customer in the same manner.

Hello Rusell, I’m really sorry for your bad experienced at Lassaggino, honestly is not our fault, sometimes opentable accept bookings when we are overbooked. Also next time you book a table please leave time for the booking to come into the system, you booked the table at 7:20 for 7:30. We are very sorry and I honestly think writting a bad review for a Restaurant you never tried is very unfair. If you want to come back please call us in advance and we will give you a complimentary bottle of prosecco. (We always do for parties).

We ate here for the first time on 3rd May 2018 and found it to be a really lovely place. Staff are great and all join in with the guests to chat. Food is very good indeed and plentiful - we were given a complimentary seafood salad and a small pudding to try as well - and a couple of limonchello drinks to finish off with. It's a small place and quite cosy - well worth a visit. We'll certainly be going there again.
