Conveniently located near to Waterloo Sation and BFI Imax. Clean and welcoming. I had plaice and chips. Generous portion of freshly cooked fish in batter with chunky chips.

We took 21 cubs and scouts here on a Saturday evening after visiting the London Eye (5 minute walk away)The staff could not be more helpful, got us all seated quickly (gave just 1hr warning that were on the way) and could not do enough to help. Food was hot and served together. Kids said that the Fish was some of best they have tasted! Plenty on the plate, would definitely use again.

We stopped for lunch, there was a line up so we their it would be good but it turned out to be really greasy. So not to thrilled with lunch. The service was quick and the place was very clean, but we didn't care for the fish n chips.

Came across this place by chance last night after wandering a bit further down from where we are staying and I'm glad we did. It's really nice and clean inside (5/5 hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency) and the sit in part was busy which is always a good sign! The menu was very reasonably priced for sitting in and the portions were generous. I had the Egg, bacon and chips which was very tasty as was only £4.95. One thing I would mention is the side portions of beans and mushy peas are huge and would easily do 2 people! We will probably be eating out in the city at lunchtime today so I'm planning on heading back the the Fishcotheque tonight again for a quick bite!

You could easily miss this place if you weren't looking for it as it's tucked away near the Waterloo Road exit of Waterloo station. It is in fact a really convenient location, for example we wanted a quick meal on our way to the South Bank Centre which is only a couple of minutes away.

When I was growing up on the Yorkshire coast in the 70's all chippies were like this. Formica tables, fish freshly cooked to order (including rock! haven't seen that for a long time), mushy peas, tea, bread and butter on the side, quick, polite and fuss-free service.

Will go again when in the area.
