“Indali is not your typical curry house”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2014

Indali Lounge is unlike the typical Indian restaurants you find anywhere else. Apart from the plush and relaxing dining experience, the food is untypical of the usual heavy curries and gravies that taste identical from one dish to the next. We had the elaborate vegetarian menu and their version of prawn briyani. The level of fresheness and distinct taste of individual spices from cardammon to fenguneek is very present. Their paneer three ways - roasted, smoked and in a sauce is like no other peneer. Even the humble raita was divine which diners usually leave behind. The prawn briyani was packed full of flavour and equal ratio of prawns to rice which was amazing.

“Somewhat dissapointed”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2014

We dined at the Indali Lounge last Friday evening... and it was surprisingly quiet..?
The meals were all well presented and tasted fair to good.

The serving staff are in need of some basic etiquette training for table servers... for example not reaching over the table with their arm in front of our faces..!!

In the main it was OK, but I wouldnt go back...

“poor quality food, poor value for money”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2014

I saw quite a few positive reviews for this restaurant on Tripadvisor and thought it might be worth checking out. Boy was i wrong. It touts itself as a healthy indian restaurant and cites numerous awards it's won for its food. But i have to say it will never win awards for the taste of its food. Good indian food can be made healthily without using too much oil or cream but this restaurant's chef clearly did not know how to do this. The mix of spices was completely wrong in all the dishes we ordered, with some dishes barely tasting of anything. Furthermore when you get served a plate of really dry tasteless bhajias without any chutney on the side it really begs the question who is in charge in the kitchen. If you can't do the basic stuff well, what's the point!

The price of the dishes was not unreasonable considering its location but i have to say the portions were tiny. If you are looking for a decent sized meal without paying over the top this restaurant is clearly not for you.

The only way to describe the service is adequate. The staff were friendly but service was lacklustre. They took quite long to get our drinks. Even simple things like water sometimes took 2-3 request before it actually arrived at the table.

The only thing this restaurant has going for it is the atmosphere. There was a nice ambience, with soft lighting and low background music.

“Very good reasonably priced healthy indian”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2014

A very friendly greeting. We had spotted this place whilst walking the streets. It states the healthiest Indian in the world as it uses no dairy products. Has a short but interesting menu. Good small pappodums with 3 chutneys. An amuse bouche of lentil soup. We shared a Goa Massalla prawn starter (no eyebrows raised). Quite hot and spicy. My wife had "butter" chicken with no butter. Medium and tasty whilst I had Hyderabad grilled fish with many herbs. I was warned it was cooked dry. Can't remember the fish new to me. Excellent fragrant basmati rice a huge bowl of refreshing cucumber raita and a well done tandoori naan. The person who said it is expensive obviously is not conversant with central London prices. I also had a Kirin (Japanese) beer and the bill came to £51.30 including service. Sure to go again.

“Average”

I met a friend for dinner and booked with a Taste card - can't help thinking we perhaps received the service we did for this reason. We ordered drinks and some poppadoms; we received the former, then about 10 minutes later an appetiser, which was bunged onto the table without explanation. Before we had a chance to finish eating either, the mains arrived. Still no drinks; so I had to get up and go to the till area, where the waiting staff were all hanging out, to ask for them. Meal was okay but I would have winced about the price under normal circumstances. The service was generally rather surly. Had to get up again to go and ask for the bill. We said goodbye to the waiting staff on the way out and were met with silence and we're then given a free pen by the front of house staff and asked to write in a visitor book! All a bit strange. We will probably not return.
